This is my first post on the board. I'm a former cast member but managed to let 10 years go by without making it to Disney world. Last year I made it back. I got engaged in front of cinderella's castle. We've decided to go back for the honeymoon and I could use some help.
We're going in early November. I want a romantic resort but I've never been a big fan of grand Floridian (it seems too stuffy) and I have misgivings about my first instinct which was animal kingdom lodge. Any help would be much appreciated.

JD, Congrats! For my money, Animal Kingdom Lodge is a very romantic resort. Especially so if you can get club level. I could happily stay there and never go to a park.

I would absolutely pick the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Its the nicest resort on property and here are some things to consider

1. Its quiet, it tends to be less hectic than many others

2. its has the best set of restaraunts on property

3. its has some fun things to do as a couple, perhaps the Sanaa Cultural tour or maybe a night time safari

4. Plus, you two and sit on your deck and watch the giraffes and zebra and enjoy each others company

AK and the Poly would be my top 2 with a theme park view at the Poly if that's the winner.

You'll be on your honeymoon no matter where you stay - pick what you like and you'll have a great time :thumbsup2

This is very true. I honeymooned at CBR not my favorite but we had a blast. I will always think of the resort fondly for that reason

We spent our honeymoon in a mansion room at POR - well, actually, it was the Dixie Landings back then. But I've always loved that resort because of those memories.

Congrats and enjoy your honeymoon!

If you like the Epcot area I would recommend BWI. I think the resort is beautiful and there is so much in the area to do!

We honeymooned at WL in 2007 and absolutely loved it. We both really enjoy the quiet secluded feel of WL while being located very close to MK and on beautiful Bay Lake. One of our favorite activities was morning walks through the woods to Fort Wilderness. We did this almost every day! It is just such a nice quiet contrast compared to the hustle and bustle of the parks, perfect for a honeymoon. It is also cheaper than other Deluxe hotels, which helped us be able to do it.

Congratulations, and enjoy your trip!

I think that the EPCOT area is totally romantic & more adult. There's great dining everywhere & you can take moonlight walks around Crescent Lake looking at the beautiful lights on the hotels & see fireworks @ EPCOT! I love 1. BC 2. YC.

I second the AKL recommendation! My wife and I had a blast on ours in 2005. Next month, we're staying there for the first time since that trip, but with all 3 kids in tow.

Another vote for WL here. It has a real "cozy" feel to us. Not sure when they decorate in Nov. for Xmas but WL is beautiful then too.

I also recommend the POLY but I don't think they have king beds.

We stayed at BWI on our 30th anniversary and it is a beautiful hotel but has more of a GF feel. I think the cottages are a little pricey though.

DH and I honeymooned at POFQ in 2007, and we loved it. It's such a small, compact resort, that it made it feel very quaint and romantic. The carriage rides were a great touch, and walking along the river. We didn't want to spend the money on a deluxe, so this gave us a romantic resort and an opportunity to use that cash for other things during out trip.

Whatever you decide, have a great time! :)
