We have been to Disney once in October 2012 - with 6 kids and a HUGE pregnant belly. We had a great time!

Planning a trip for late 2014....we can't decide between mid October (Fall Break) and Thanksgiving week. I think we are going to stay in a 2 BDR at BLT again.

We have a few questions...

- How much more crowded is it over Thanksgiving? My kids get the entire week off from school as opposed to just a few days in October.

- When does the Christmas festivities begin? Will it be decorated for Christmas at Thanksgiving?

- Any thoughts on new "pass" system? We used the GAPs last trip - my 5yo daughter has Down syndrome and my 7yo son has mild autism/anxiety. HUGE crowds and long lines with them won't be super fun. When we went in October, it was perfect, but we never waited for much between the smaller crowds and GAPs. They can tolerate some degree of waiting so I don't expect NO waiting at all...it's Disney after all! How does the new system work in comparison? Where can I read more about this?

THANKS!

Thanksgiving will be much more crowded than October. The Christmas activities however will be in full swing by that time so its a trade off. Good luck planning.

We went one yr for Thanksgiving and it was busy. They had all the Christmas stuff going on too. As for the new DAS I would suggest going to the disabilities board and reading all about it there. They have a very informative post with all the details and suggestions on how to make your trip go smooth.

While I don't have any Thanksgiving experience to help you would with. I just wanted to say how nice it is to see another big family with 7 kids that goes to Disney!

We will be going in August 2014 with our 7 and can't wait. During Thanksgiving I would be worried about the crowds and I know my 9 year old who has autism would not want to go to the parks because of the sheer amount of people. He's okay with August as the crowd thins as we are there.

Good luck with your planning!
