Is Planet Hollywood worth going to? We got a coupon from our travel agent but we are on a tight budget and would like to know how expensive it is. (2 adults 2 kids)

IMHO - no it is not worth going for the food. I had a tasteless burger. My husband had so-so fajitas and the kids had chicken fingers.

However, my children (9,9,11,14) loved the place. They like seeing the movie paraphanalia. I think they would even eat spinach if that is all PH served.

This is probably of little help to you - but to sum it up -- Don't go for the food, go for the atmosphere. If you or your children are not into movies and Hollywood, skip this restaurant.

I go for appetizers and dessert. It's a great way to see all the fun stuff, and those are the tastiest items on the menu!

We were there a few weeks ago and loved it! There were 5 adults and one child (DS-4). The adults had burgers and the child had chicken fingers. DS LOVED the place. We went there after Fantasmic so it was kind of quite so DS got to walk around and see everything. We sat on the 3rd floor and the highlight was the giant Woody sitting over the 3rd floor doorway. DS was thrilled. The food was good, not just ok, but actually good! The burgers were generous and very tasty and the spinach parmesan appetizer was a huge hit! If you have a coupon or GC I say go for it! The kids will love it and you can most certainly share meals because the portions are pretty big. That's just my opinion.

This is gonna be kinda long, but I just have to share my experience with Planet Hollywood after reading your post:D

Back in 1998 when I used a travel agent to book my Disney trips;) , I, too had a coupon for PH and a VIP pass to the front of the line.

I figured this would be a good "first meal" spot, as our plane landed around lunch time.

It was July, and as DH and I walked up to the steps of PH(VIP pass in hand), there were hoards of South American tour groups surrounding the place. It was a mob scene. "Oh, Boy," I thought:rolleyes: They were literally blocking the way to the podium at the bottom of the steps. Two men in black suits and black sunglasses stood at the podium. One spotted us behind all the chanting teens, and immediately came over, and told them to "Move aside":p He must have saw (and recognized) my VIP pass.:p He had a walkie talkie, and after asking my last name, immediately radioed to inside the building, "The *******'s are here. I repeat, the ******'s are here.":earseek:  A voice from the other end answers, "Send them in."

"Follow me," he said. As he escorted us up the stairs, he radioed inside again, "The ******'s are entering the building. I repeat, the *******'s are entering the building. As there were people surrounding the stairs, I just played along and waved to them all as I ascended.:jester: :p The best part was my DH just looked at me like I was nuts, and whispered, "Stop, you're going to start a riot. Did you arrange this?" LOL I was too speechless to say anything, so I just shook my head "no".

Then we get inside to another podium, and immediately the host says, "Are you the ******'s? Right this way!" He seats us, and at this point my DH & I are just staring at each other, still speechless.:earseek:

Next thing, this really good looking waiter comes over and literally kneels down real close beside me, and says all starry-eyed, "Hi, I'm ****, I'll be your server. Have you been in Orlando long?"

"No," I manage to mutter, "we just got off the plane."

"Wow," he says, again all starry eyed, "How exciting!"

I look over at my DH, and I can tell he is really mad. After our waiter leaves to get our drinks, my DH says, "What... we are not in Orlando but 1 hour, and already the waiter is trying to pick you up?" LOL:jester: He still doesn't get it. He's serious.

I try to explain to him it's all an act to make us feel famous... just relax and play along.:jester:

DH husband did relax, and we enjoyed one of our most memorable meals ever... anywhere! :D

To answer your question, "Is it expensive?" I don't know. I don't remember, lol :o I was too stunned by the whole experience:o I do remember we had huge hamburgers:D

Again, I apologize for the long post. If it doesn't help you, I hope you at least got a chuckle out of it:D

I don't know if it was the VIP pass, the fact that we just got off the plane, or just plain Disney magic, but whatever it was, well.... it was priceless:D :smooth:

We really enjoy going to Planet Hollywood, but you have to time it right! If you don't, you will be waiting a long time, and I think that is partially why people have negative views. We usually go for an early lunch, before it gets crowded, around 11:30, or between 3 and 5 pm. We have had the pasta, the fajitas, the burgers, the milkshakes and nothing has ever disappointed us. The service was good, and prompt, the food tasty, and the servings large, which somewhat justifies the price. Most servings are big enough to split and be satified, so if you are on a tight budget, this may be right up your alley! The atmosphere is what it is... lots of Hollywood and movie memorabilia, and the music can get somewhat loud... but ... no complaints, here!

BTW, F-LORI-DA, that was priceless ---well worth whatever it was that you paid for your meal!!!

IMHO dont waste your time or money. This is the worst meal we have had at or near WDW. It is very expensive, very LOUD. The atmosphere may be worth seeing, so if you want to do that, go for a drink and dessert like someone posted. Rainforest cafe is very tasty and original, try that in a relaxed and quiter atmosphere that our kids enjoyed. It was actually less expensive than PH. We have been to WDW 4 times and I repeat PH was the only meal that I would never, ever eat again.

There were 4 adults in our party when we dined here last month and we all enjoyed our meals. I would say go ahead and enjoy yourself, your kids will love it.

:D Thanks for the great post. We too have VIP on our paper given to us from the travel agent. So I've got to make sure now that we go, just to see if we also get royal treatment. :p Thanks again!

I, too, hope you get the "royal treatment". :D I certainly did feel special:D

Just make sure you have that VIP pass in hand and in plain view when you approach PH;)

Have fun, and here's some pixie dust coming your way, just for an extra measure of good luck:wave: :earsgirl:
