Our first visit to Planet Hollywood wasn't so magical. Even though we had an ADR for 2:00 PM and were there on time, we were told that there would be a 40 minute wait for a table. The employee (I hesitate to call them cast members because they really didn't seem to be Disney people.) informed us that an ADR would only get us first available or 1/2 the wait time.

After thirty minutes we got our table. I have to say, I love the memorabilia that adorns the walls and ceiling but could they have crammed another table in that space?

The waitress that took our order didn't understand the difference between the Deluxe Dining Plan and the Regular Dining Plan. She actually argued with me about whether an appetizer came with the dining plan. Finally, I just asked her to bring the appetizer and we'd deal with the bill at the end of the meal. I have had a cast member correct me if I had wrong information but never an argument. She actually said, "Nope, you're wrong, appetizers don't come with any of Disney's dining plans."

We got our meals pretty quickly. My DD8 had the chef salad with Russian dressing. In her words it was great. I was impressed, it didn't look like a kid's portion at all. The salad is prepared with everything separate. (i.e. tomatoes on one side, cucumbers to one side, meat, etc.) Great ideas for little ones that may not like all the items. Dressing is on the side in a "genie bowl".

My NY Strip steak was not medium well, as ordered but I actually found that it tasted very good. I had asked for no sour cream on my baked potato but that request got lost on the way to the kitchen.

The biggest disappointment to me seemed to be the rush to turn the table. I know the waitstaff make their money on serving as many people as quickly as possible but Planet Hollywood at lunch on this particular Saturday seemed to be especially hurried.

Overall, the food was great, the service was abysmal, ambiance was awesome. Would we do it again? Probably not but I'm glad we've done it once. *Note* That appetizer didn't appear on my bill.

Thanks for the review! Yeah, we did this on our first trip to Disney. Haven't been back since. It was neat to see and experience. But nothing about it had us dying to go back...Maybe someday, but nothing we are yearning for.

We ate at Planet Hollywood on our recent November trip. We were not on the dining plan and went during lunch, so no wait. We had never been to Downtown Disney and wanted to see it. Glad we did, as a security guard told us the were starting renovations/tear down of many parts of the area. Back to the dining...
The meal we had was good (wouldn't say great). I did enjoy the baked lasagna! :thumbsup2
I will agree with the poster, the tables are way to close together!

Your experience sounds very similiar to ours. Very rushed, pretty poor service, and average food. At the end of our meal, our server seemed to be nowhere when we needed change, our dessert, or to have something packed up.
We won't go back, but at least we have gone once. We really try to try new restaurants on each of our trips. Our hopes are to eventually try them all!

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. :(

We had a 4:45 reservation today and were seated within 10 minutes. They first sat us at a cramped table which was kind of difficult with my wheelchair. However, they came back a few minutes later and asked if we wanted to be seated somewhere that had more room. When I said "yes please" they had us follow them to the new table. Our waitress was very knowledgable about the dining plans. The food was awesome and we are definately coming back in May. The only complaint I had was the waitress took awhile to get things to us. Also the carbonation machine went haywire so it took her a while to get me another drink. However, when she came back to the table she explained the situation and brought me a glass of ice water. 10 minutes later she came back with a soda for me. She also boxed up dessert for us (we were so full after dinner) so that we could bring it back to our resort.
