Greetings all,

We are making our first trip to Disney World on Sunday, getting in 12:15, figure by time we get to our resort (Caribbean Beach) probably 2:00 - 2:30 (is that a reasonable expectation?)>

Trying to decide where to eat, and we are considering Planet Hollywood, and I will call tomorrow to make reservations (hopefully it is not too late).

What are the opinions hwere of people who have eaten there? Like anywhere else, I've seen good and bad reviews.

Also, are there a lot of steps to climb? My mom is 76 and that may be hard for her.

What other places would you all recommend that we may be able to get into with reservations only 24 hours in advance (reasonably priced, accessible by disney transportation, american type food).

Thanks in advance!

Al

There are Planet Hollywoods in major cities around the world. I would not go all the way to WDW and eat at PH. There are so many wonderful places to eat!

We love Bongos in DTD, Raglan Road has been getting lots of good reviews, we're going to try Fulton's Crab House this trip. We've also enjoyed Wolfgang Pucks, and even Earl of Sandwich is good.

PH is just like Hard Rock Cafe, same type of food, menu same round the world.

There is a huge flight of stairs to get into PH, it's a huge round golf ball shaped building (earth).

I'd go with Raglan Road for your mom. More comfort food on the menu.

Yes...you will arrive at the resort around 2 -2:30

Go to www.destinationcoupons.com and you can get a coupon that will give you VIP seating. It gets you the next available table. We liked Planet Hollywood but it is very loud. We had no issues with the food or the service. However, it's nothing special. Just like all other PH's.

There are many, many stairs but I think they had an elevator. Not totally sure on that one though. When you call to try and get an ADR ask if they are wheelchair accessible.

If you can't get in at PH go to Earl of Sandwich. It is also at DTD. It is just a sandwich place but everything is made fresh and all the sandwiches are hot. They also have great salads. Then you can go to Ghiradellis for desert and tour around the shops. That is our favorite way to start our trip.

Planet Hollywood does accept ADR's at times. I know they aren't accepting them for the entire summer. Not sure when it starts.

There's nothing out of this world (no pun intended) about Planet Hollywood, but it's a fun place to kick start your vacation. We go there every trip. The LA Lasagne is fantastic. The service, more often that not, sucks.

The number of PH around the world has significantly dwindled over the years. They now only have about 20 restaurant locations. Toronto closed a couple years ago. We used to go to these when were in a location that had them, but they just couldn't compete and tried to expand too fast. It wouldn't surpise me some day that they all disapear.

For the price, I think you could get a better meal at HOB, we love that place.

We really wanted to try PH since the one in Chicago closed before we had the chance to go. Personally again this was one of those restaurants we loved but others for some reason weren't fond of. We absolutely loved looking at all movie stuff in there, that was a blast right there but our food was pretty good. I had a club sandwich (which was to die for), friend had the burger, and another one chose a pasta dish. We had a TON of food. I couldn't even finish my sandwich & fries. It came really quick too, we were taking quick pictures when we saw here bring our food. We were on a budget (no ddp for us) but I didn't find it to be expensive- my friends & I paid on seperate checks but it was one of our cheaper meals. I can't wait to go back though :goodvibes

I do recall it being extremely loud! I also remember lots of steps...I'm not sure about the elevator. Usually, if you book a package, Disney sends a coupon for PH...if they are still doing that. That makes it seem a little quieter ;)

We LOVE the PH @ DTD! :lovestruc We ate there twice last trip and will eat there twice this trip. The food was excellent, service was wonderful, and servers were very good. I do not think you will have trouble getting in. We had an ADR through Disney the one time and walked up the other so you should be good! There is an elevator that can be used from ground level to the top! I had to use it due to mobility challenges. The decor/memorabillia is awesome! Enjoy! :)

We ate here last June, the service was average and so was the food, its not bad though and it was reasonably priced. It is loud though, i personally (a 21 year old!) found it a bit overwhelming, but there's plenty to look at on the walls and in glass cases. Don't forget to look up, there are so many levels and props on the ceiling to amuse yourselves with. I remember there being a lift, i think it was under the main staircase?!? Once you get inside there are a few sets of stairs, but depending on which level you are seated on there might not be many.

While I have not eaten at Planet Hollywood at DTD, I have eaten at others and have always been disapointed. I guess that is probabally the reason they give away the voucher with the tickets. It is slightly below avg burgers, salads, etc and is way overpriced in my experience. I personally will never eat at one again.
