Planet Hollywood voucher question

We are going to WDW in October for a split trip, 8/10-8/13 and will not be on the dining plan, on a non-Disney cruise and then back to Disneyworld-and will be on the dining plan-8/19-8/22. We have already gotten our voucher for Planet Hollywood in a packet and are wondering if we can use if on the first leg of the trip. The date says 1/1/2006 thru 12/31/2006. Is it worth it to get a free meal having to walk a-l-l that way in the heat anyway?
