My understanding is that you have no control over the times you leave and return...other than the date. Which means that a red-eye the day you are leaving and a 7am flight on the way home. This is the difference of almost two days and we are not willing to lose control of our schedule for the amall difference in airfare.

We have used Hotwire, Cheaptickets.com, Travelocity and Expedia with positive results. Good luck with your travel plans.

While the above is true, I have had great success if you don't mind bending your schedule a little bit. In February, I flew to San Diego, from Albany NY, for $175 roundtrip. It was a sweet deal, about $75 less than anything I had seen. The times weren't that bad, I left Albany at 2:30 p.m. and my flight back left at 11 a.m.

I've used them not for a trip to Orlando but for a family visit. I had an entire day on each end of the vacation so the timing didn't matter. It was also a flight that I couldn't do non-stop. It worked great and I got a much better fare than I would have otherwise.

One of my nephews bought tickets for the same trip and didn't check jet airlines and ended up on a prop plane. He wasn't real excited about that so you may want to make sure you specify jet if it matters to you.

You can get lucky but if the timing / # of stops matter to you it's best to schedule the regular way and pay extra.

We use PL alot. You MUST go to biddingfortravel.com and see the new "packaging" for airfares, much less attractive. This really is a major change from the way PL has bundled the airfare in the past. In the past, it could really be much cheaper using PL. Good luck! Threehearts

Although it is true that you don't control the times of the flights it does specify that it can depart anytime between 6am and 10pm with no more than a 3 hour (I believe it's 3 - it's not more than that) layover. I have been successful on priceline twice - both times to Orlando and although I would have "preferred" different flight times on one trip I just built in a whole travel day each way and was fine. The other one I got GREAT times - I wouldn't have changed a thing about them. I would also suggest going to biddingfortravel.com - they have provided me with tremendous help. I owe my priceline successes all to them:D

I don't even call the airline/hotel anymore when I buy airline or hotel tickets, I just go to PL. I know that I have to be flexible, but we've had really good luck with it. When dh wants to go and visit his mom in DC we bid or when we go to Orlando--before we bough dvc--we used to bid on PL. We've been quoted anywhere from $1200 to $399 for a RT from GA to DC. Bidding with PL we got it for $240 and $179 respectively. Before I bid for anything though I go to Biddingfortravel.com and read it religiously before I bid.
