Plane/seat & ME questions

Hi there :wave2:

I have the option of flying in row 1 or row 6 of a JetBlue A320 plane, BOS to MCO.

The Row 1 seat is supposedly an "Even More" seat with a little more legroom, but less seat pitch than the other rows of "Even More" seats. These seats have immovable armrests with the trays built in. The bulkhead is right in front of these seats.

The idea of more legroom is great, but I have fairly wide hips; would I be better off in Row 6 which is considered "standard" but has moveable armrests (my DH will be sitting next to me), and will give me a little more hip room?

I have rheumatoid arthritis and the idea of having the legroom in Row 1 is very appealing, but I'm not sure if that will come at the cost of feeling squished into the seat itself.

If any of you have flown in the first row of a plane like this, did you like it as compared to a regular row??

Second question:

Our WDW reservation starts on a Monday. I found great flights for Sunday night so we are flying down Sunday night and staying at the Orlando Airport Marriott (free with rewards points)

Can we still use DME the next morning if we take the hotel shuttle back to the airport?

Thanks in advance for any info, opinions, experiences, etc. :sunny:

I don't like bulkhead seats, so I would go for row 6. I would think that row would be more comfortable for you. You can also put up the armrest, which you can't do in the bulkhead. Aren't seats in other rows of the more legroom seats available? I see this plane has those TERRIBLE slim seats; they have less padding and are very uncomfortable.

Sorry; can't answer your other question.

DH is a bigger guy and cannot stand the front seats when they have the armrests with trays. The trays take up space side to side and make it less comfy for him.

I haven't flown in row 1 on JetBlue but I have a couple of times on Alaska. What I didn't like is that there is no under the seat storage for this row. Everything had to go in the overhead bin. There was a tiny pouch under the window for both us to put anything that we wanted access to until we could get to the overhead bin once the seat belt sign was turned off. I would take row 6 without hesitation. I also like use SeatGuru.com to check the desirability of a particular seat.

Go with row 6. All the seats on JetBlue planes have plenty of leg room. My dh is 6'4" and has flown Boston to San Diego in a regular JB seat just fine.
Those non-moving armrests make the seat narrower...huge pain. I took row 1 just once. Never again and as someone said, no under seat storage. A big no-no for me.

As for the second question, yes, you can use dme if you arrive the day before. Be sure you have it reserved, for the day your resort reservation starts.
It will ask for flight info. No problem. Just say no flight booked yet. Head to the dme area that morning, with your bags. You'll be directed to the appropriate bus line. Your bags will go beneath your bus and hands to you at your resort. Very simple to do.

Thanks so much for all of the quick replies. I just got off the phone with JetBlue and I moved our seats to Row 6, seats E & F. :)

Lauren, due to a mobility disability, I was offered Row 1 for no additional charge, so I had not paid for the "Even More" seats. They reserve Row 1 and Row 6 for people with various disabilities, for ease of boarding, I would guess. All things considered, for us Row 6 is the best option of the standard-priced seats.

I have flown on jetblue multiple times, and feel that the regular seats have plenty of leg space. As a larger person myself I would rather have the moveable armrests. I think I would feel squished with the bulk head seats, and would forget about the more leg room.

I'd change to row 1, seats E and F if you can get them.

I'm larger than typical and disabled - goofy4tink can vouch for both of these, albeit diplomatically ;) - and I like the immoveable armrests because I can be 100% positive there's no chance of spilling over into the next seat. Plus, there's an electric outlet in front of seat 1F.

All of the Even More Space seats have power outlets, not just Row 1.

a great website i found to use in the past is seatguru.com you put the airline and flight number and it give you all the information about that plane and the seats. I found it to be very useful and since im not a big fan of sitting near the exit OR the engine , those loud noises make me nervous , this site helps
