Any suggestions for packing car seat to be checked on an airplane? By car seat I mean one that holds a child up to 80 pounds, so it's a big sized one. They do allow curbside checkin, so atleast we can check it first thing and not have to worry about lugging it through the airport.

I've seen them before placed in large clear plastic bags and tied at the top with tape. I'm not sure if the airline provided them, or if people brought their own bag.

We've flown alot with our dd (now 4.5). We've always checked her car seat. Sometimes they put them in a plastic bag, sometimes they just put them in a tray. We've never had a problem.

I've also watched them load the car seats onto the planes. They are the last items loaded. The grown crew has always been pretty careful with them.

Babies 'R Us carries a car seat cover that is $20 and has a strap. We bought one 3 yrs ago for our older son's car seat and thought it was great. It protects the seat and is easy to carry with the strap. We will use it again in Oct with our younger son's seat.

Click here to go to BabiesRUs.com and search for Eddie Bauer Carseat Travel Bag. It gets good reviews.
