This is our first time flying w/our 3 kids and I'm very nervous. Our plane leaves at 7:10am so we'd have to be at the airport very early. Then we land and change planes w/o much of a layover (unless of course theres delays). Then we get to MCO at noon and wait for ME - great to get there early but traveling during 2 meals complicates an already stressful time. Maybe I should change our flights.

Just wondering what other families bring for their kids to eat. I know their favorite snacks - I guess I could bring something easy for them to eat at the airport like apples/bananas. Sandwiches? Probably won't be able to bring any drinks. Any tips?

TIA
Joanne

Maybe oranges to quench thirst. I read on another board that if you bring empty drink containers (water bottles/sippy cups) that you could get them filled up on the plane as you board if you need a drink right away. Also, once you get through security, there should be (at least in the few airports I have been in) a limited amount of food and drinks available to purchase. Of course you will have to finish the drink before you board.

I to am a little nervous, especially with no liquids. So we are bringing empty sippy cups that I hope we can get filled as soon as we board. We are also leaving early 7:05 am and we live an hour away from the airport. Luckily we have no lay over. I hope to eat lunch at our resort.

We are bringing his favorite snacks. He loves the dry cereal, extra flavor goldfish, fruit chews and breadsticks in cheese. One of our other plane snacks is those candy dots. Nothing like a kid with a sugar high on a plane. But it keeps him occupied pealing the dots of the paper. I hope to be able to grab a muffing wants we get through security.

Call me crazy.... but sometimes we get a large pizza the night before and I put the slices in a gallon size zip lock baggie..... yummy....

I read somewhere recently that bagels and cream cheese were not allowed through security so if that is out, then I would guess the same for pb&j.

Maybe cheese (like sliced swiss, cheddar) and crackers would be a good idea. Bananas or other portable fruit. Dried fruit, trailmixes. Granola Bars or other breakfast bars.

Just a few ideas off the top of my head.

And cold pizza gives dh the heeby-jeebies, lol. :confused3 He loves it hot though.

ETA: came across the Bumble Bee Ready to Eat Meals at Walmart for about $1 each and thought I'd give them a try. If they're good I'll prbly pack a couple to take along as well.

This is what we usually pack: lunchables (remove drink if included), grapes, pre-spread bageles w/ cream cheese, pre-made pb&j sandwiches, chips, beef jerky, trail mix etc. Our flight is just under 8 hours with no meal service so we come prepared. We usually eat at the Wendy's at the airport right before we board so we don't eat all of our food too early into the flight.

We were in a rush so I slapped some sandwiches together - better to use bagels, though, so they don't get smashed. You can't take ice packets because of the gel :confused3

I also brought apples (they are pricey if you don' tbring your own - at the Atlanta airport they cost $1.19 each), protein bars, kid snacks, trail mix, etc.

You can bring up to 1 cup of milk per baby/toddler. I brought small drink boxes of organic milk and at first the TSA guy was going to confiscate them, but I pointed out how according to the TSA website they were allowed, but he went off and came back and said it was ok. Of course, better to check their website for updates.

Yes, bring an empty sippy cup and ask for a drink when you all are seated. The flight attendants I have encountered are very accomodating.
