If our plane lands at 12:30 what time can I expect to get to hotel, check in, get tickets, and get to the MK on a friday afternoon. Just trying to decide if we should hit a park or DTD that day. We cant be out too late with the kids so we need to head back to the room around 7. We dont mind making it a 1/2 day as this is an extra day we didnt expect to have (decided to fly) but didnt know what timing to expect.

We can settle in and unpack after we get the kids to sleep as they are sound sleepers.

Thanks

Are you using Magical Express? If so, I would figure 70-90 minutes from when you get off the plane to arriving at your resort. Then you will have to add in more time depending on how long it takes to check in. Your luggage should arrive about 3 hours after you check in.

Since you want to be in by 7:00, I would just spend the afternoon at Downtown Disney.

Yes we are using DME, first time flying and using DME so this is a bit new to us. On the plus side we wont be exhausted and gain a few hours but it screws with my schedule :)

Dont need to be back at room by 7 just need to be waiting for a bus by 7, if that matters at all.

You don't need to be in your room to get your luggage. If you want to go to the park after you check in for dinner, then go for it.

You can expect a 70 - 90 minute ride after you deboard the plane.

However, after that, it is really hard to decipher; I don't expect Fridays to be a busy check-in day, but it will just necessarily mean a difference if you did regular check-in or online check-in, whether you will need to wait for them to assign you another room if the original room doesn't met your requests, etc.

It is really hard to pick an exact time, but I always allocate at least 30 minutes for check-in depending on what day and time of day you arrive.

Here's my thinking.....

-plane lands at 12:30
-allow approx 2 hrs from getting off the plane to getting into room
-add 30 minutes to get on a bus and get to a park
-this leaves approx 4 hrs in that park and most likely there will be some time taken for a meal

With that in mind I think I'd be more inclined to spend the time at DTD or resort hopping or hanging out at the pool. There is also Disney Quest which is fun for a short amount of time.

For me it would depend on how long the stay is and where I am staying!

If its a long trip then I would hit a park as the extra park day costs very little, probably Epcot to see some of the live entertainment and have a nice meal and maybe a few rides. If it is a shorter stay than I would probably hit DTD or maybe mini golf and swim at the resort.

Of course this would also depend on how well the trip goes and what kind of mood my kids were in after the trip :) So I would probably not make any ADR's and just play it by ear.

FWIW in your situation I probably would not order tickets to cover that day but if we did hit a park I would add the day during the stay.

What resort are you staying at? The transportation time from All Stars (for example) would be different than the Poly. I would guess you could be at MK by 4pm. Even if it's 3pm, do you want to use a day's admission for only 4 hours?

I would hang out at the resort, hit the pool, etc.

Enjoy your trip!

A day's admission is very cheap if they already have at least three-day tickets.

One-day base ticket: $85
Two-day base ticket: $168
Three-day base ticket: $232
Four-day base ticket: $243
Five-day base ticket: $251
Six-day base ticket: $259
Seven-day base ticket: $267
Eight-day base ticket: $275
Nine-day base ticket: $283
Ten-day base ticket: $291

So, depending on how many days they already have, it can be be only $8 per person to go to the park for those 3-4 hours.

I don't know about you OP, but to me $8 per person is awfully reasonable for three hours of fun in one of the parks. Heck 2-hour movies cost more than that.

So my suggestion: play it by ear. If you get there and want to go to a park, go. You can add the extra day to your tickets after you get there.

Thanks OP here

Yes staying at pop, with 7 day tickets already so I think we will do what was suggested and play it by ear depending on how good they all travel. Then tack on a day if needed during the trip to cover the extra day.

If it was only our 2 kids this wouldn't be a question as I know their temperament but we are taking our older sons birth sibling and I don't know his tolerance for being on the move all day. Here's hoping the excitement out weighs meltdowns for the entire trip.

Thanks again, I have 2 touring plans set up now to cover us for both options.

I notice you will be traveling with an extremely young baby. I think the conventional wisdom is that when traveling with such a young child that you need to plan for everything to take a little bit longer.

I know that for sure, but he's well worth the extra hassle. I need to update his age as he will be exactly 4 months when we get there, not that that's much of a difference.
