Places to stay at universal

Hi all We are going against the grain and staying off Disney grounds this year. Just can't justify the cost. Wondering if anyone can recommend a nice place to stay for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. Our week budget for our lodging is 500.00 Any help is appreciated.
