PJ - 11 AUG 2010 - WP/Napa/Sago Cay - New Updates!

Good news you have a day looking more quiet sweetie. I'll keep my fingers crossed no one else wants the 11th!

And  for knocking a day off the countdown!

Thank you ladies :)

I'm not changing my PJ title yet, just in case I jinx myself!

We're also now to-ing and fro-ing on the reception location! I think this is what happens when you have too much time to book  We're between Whitehall and California Grill. If we did Cali Grill, we'd do the 10am ceremony and have to be out of there by 3-4pm to avoid the $4000 minimum if you have the place 4pm-6pm. We LOVED Napa Room and the views when we were there and the room is a perfect size for us. DF wants Napa as a first choice.

I also like Napa, and our wedding day would be longer and I'd get to be in my dress longer! The reception would be 12 - 3/4. Is this enough time for speeches, a first dance, cutting the cake, and a 3/4 course meal? Is 12pm too early for a 4 course meal? Although you do get wedding breakfasts in the UK for that time. What would our guests do from 3/4pm until the dessert party at say 9pm? We were planning to give them a break from 5/6pm anyway. Should we arrange to do something else in the meantime, e.g. drinks on the Grand 1 for an hour or so?!

I NEED YOUR HELP!!

I think you should post that on the main page as you'll get more past brides answering.

Hayley, we had the same dilemma with our times. We switched from an evening to a morning wedding so we could have our reception at Narcoosee's. Since the reception has to be over by 3, the guests will just have free time until the DP that evening. :thumbsup2

Sorry you had to change your date. Now I'm glad I pushed ours up a week to the 5th!

Hope you're able to get all your first choices! I'm counting the days until we both find out!

Thanks Amanda :) That's the main thing I was worried about, the guests having nothing to do - but thinking about it, I bet they will be glad of a rest and being able to change/refresh for the evening!

So glad Diane was able to help you out with your date!

Were going for a rest mid afternoon - I want to spend a little on my own with Henry and I am sure everyone will want a little time to freshen up :goodvibes

Hey Gemma!

I'm so glad other people are taking a break mid-afternoon! I'm actually really excited now to be doing Napa Room, the view is incredible and we get to ride the monorail! It's all very close to booking now! A month tomorrow we'll be able to book! EEEEEK! I can't believe it's so close, I can't wait to be able to say We're getting married on X date, at X time.

I'm meeting with my 2 best friends on Sunday for lunch who I haven't seen in aaages due to our work schedules and I'm going to give them 'Be My Bridesmaid?' cards - I haven't made them yet though so hopefully they will turn out OK! I'll post pics up!

Good news - I emailed Stan, Misty and Patricia about the possible date change and all 3 are free on the 11th, so I'm really glad about that!

I'm watching Ultimate Wedding Dresses right now on Wedding TV and it's Kirstie Kelly that's on! I finally have a half day today so I'm using it to chill and get excited about the wedding

Good luck with your date! Glad to hear all your vendors are still free the other day. It's so silly that they make you wait so long to book! Did you ask your planner if other brides wanted the date or did she just tell you that? We're hoping for August 17, 2010, which is a Tuesday, but now I'm getting nervous about it, and I'm like you, can't imagine getting married anywhere but the Wedding Pavillion!

Thanks Tammy :)

pezaddict - I'd asked her back in February whether anyone else was down and it was just me. When we were discussing back-ups she told me 2 other couples were interested, but didn't specify whether it was Pavilion or not. I asked about 11th and 10th August and she said they looked better, so we just wanted to totally make sure we got everything we wanted. Maybe it was busy as the 12th is a Thursday and people wanted the last day before the minimum went up for the weekend? Good luck on getting 17th!!

OK, UPDATE - I GOT BRIDESMAID DRESSES!!

Now this is top secret, kay?! You can't tell my guests where I got these badboys from. That's right! Ebay!! I'm paying for all the bridesmaid dresses myself, I think that's usual in the UK, at least where I'm from! So I didn't want super expensive dresses that I could use the money for other things. I'd been looking at Debenhams, Coast, Monsoon online and all the bridesmaid dresses I'd seen that I'd liked were £100+ each. I've already asked my 2 best friends to be bridesmaids, but I'd like a third and £300+ for dresses was not something I wanted to do.

Enter Ebay. 3 Dresses, 1 Auction: £40 for the lot. Done. The dresses were originally bought at Debenhams and would match in with our theme. That's £13.30 per dress!!! Am I really a cheapskate?! I really hope they fit and they like them!

This is the dress, it end just below the knee:

These are my lovely bridesmaids! Here we are on the Eiffel Tower on my 21st Birthday:

We've also booked suits for everyone for the wedding, and for the party when we get home. DF has chosen a black tailcoat, with the black pinstripe trousers. He wants a ivory vest and ruche tie, but hasn't chosen them yet.
This isn't the exact suit, but he will look something like this, except with less grey hair and a different vest and tie:

We also went to Goldsmiths to have a look at wedding rings whilst we were there. Els has decided he wants a 6mm Palladium band, but we are waiting until Jan to get them as it's not a legal requirement to stamp palladium at the moment in the UK, so want that legislation to come through!

What he wants:

I tried on this one, which I loved, but it's a bit more than I wanted to spend on a ring. I might have to think about it though, as it's something I'll wear forever:

I was going to get this one from Blue Nile, where my e-ring is from:

I had also tried on 'my' dress in a shop near me in light gold - they also have a branch in this town, where the dress is available in ivory so I decided to have a look to see if I liked it. I didn't have an appointment and they're usually busy, so I just wanted to see what the dress looked like in ivory. Noone was in the shop when I went in, so the lady asked if I wanted to try it on - uh, do I?!!

OMG, IT'S THE ONE! IT'S THE ONE! I know it is!! I loved the light gold, but when I put it on in the ivory I just got a lump in my throat!

I can't wait to wear it! PRINCESS DRESS!!

Such a shame we had to come back from the holiday and now it's all over! I will try and get photos up ASAP!

Now I'm gutted we didn't look in Topman - we looked at some local wedding shops, Burtons, Debenhams and Greenwood. Debenhams wanted 10% per day to take abroad!! Because we're hiring for 2 weeks we had to pay hire and a half. I think it worked out at £110 per suit; and then £70 for the weekend of the party as DF wants to wear his suit to our home reception. DF's parents paid in full, and we got DF's suit free and 10% off as we paid in full. We're paying them back for the best man's, and my dad's going to pay for his. Typical! I didn't know Topman did hire, I can't find it on their website!

It's so fricking awesome, I wanted to run out the shop and never come back!!

The suit was lovely on!! He wanted black trousers to begin with, but once he put the pinstripe on, that's the one he wanted! I had to agree, they were better than the black as they broke up the suit a bit rather than being all black.

I really hope the BM dresses do and they won't think I'm cheap

WOW!! The dress is just gorgeous!! Oh and I love the BM dresses too!! Great find!

Thank you! I can't wait for them to come and try them on!!

I'm posting these straight off my Facebook, so I hope you can see them! I don't have all my photos at work!
