We went out to eat last night at a new Pizza Hut that just opened three days ago. It's not in the traditional, red roof type building, but instead in a bulding that was vacated by a previous restaurant. It actually looks more like an Applebee's or TGIFridays type of place.

Anyway, my husband, DD16, and I were seated and given menus. From there it all went downhill. We waited a long time until anyone came back to the table to take our order. It then took forever for our pizza to come out, which by the way, when we DID get it, was delicious. We ordered nachos with cheese as an appetizer, but it never came. We ordered breadsticks with our meal, but we got garlic bread with cheese instead. It took multiple requests to get drink refills. The waitress dropped a bowl of salsa by our feet. The waitress took back the garlic bread, but we never got the breadsticks. She returned with the garlic bread. We waited forever to get our bill.

We were trying to be understanding because we knew the restaurant had only been open a few days. They seemed to have enough waitstaff, but the place was pretty busy. Two people seated next to us got tired of waiting for someone to take their order and they walked out.

When the waitress came to our table to give us the check, she said the manager would be over to talk to us. We figured the manager would help straighten out the bill and not charge for the food we didn't get. Well, he apologized profusely for all the mishaps and took care of the entire bill. We weren't charged for anything! :)

So instead of leaving in a bad frame of mind, it turned out okay. We appreciated what the manager did, and we'll probably return in the future. :thumbsup2

That's interesting. You didn't ask for the manager?

Cool! She realized she messed up and did something about it. I like that.

Yay for good managers! Hopefully Pizza Hut will get their problems worked out. They've really gone far, far downhill in this area, and the last couple of times I've gone (maybe twice in the last 8 years) everything from service to food to beverages was really bad. Such a shame, because I love their salad dressings, and can't seem to find any others to match them.

Maybe I can talk hubby into giving them another try, soon.

our pizza huts are the same way and I hate it. We use to like to go but between the bad service and high prices, its just easier to go some other place. I use to like to go to pizza hut, but its not worth the hassle.

PIzza Hut originated here but now the product is just a couple of notches below mediocre--and it's too expensive. I haven't eaten in one of their restaurants in several years, and stopped ordering delivery from them about six months ago.

Around here our Pizza Huts are pretty good. Ours are owned by a Ft Wayne couple and you can tell which ones they own in Northern IN by the roof color. If the roof is a traditional red roof it's owned by the Pizza Hut Company(along with Pepsi, Taco Bell and KFC) if the roof is shingled or different in any way it's franchised. IMO the red roof restaurants in Goshen/Elkhart/South Bend area are much dirtier and have worse service than the ones closer to me. I think a big part of the good service is the training the owners require. They have a beautiful office in Fort Wayne near 24 & 69 where they hold classes for each level of management. I'm not saying they are perfect by any means but the Columbia City Hut still has some employees there now that were there 16 years ago. To me that's impressive. One of the most "famous" employees they had was the whistling waitress on West State Street in Ft Wayne........she was an awesome waitress.

For PeterPanette: I think our local huts get their dressings from Gordon's Food Services. And they come in gallon sized jugs.

I just had four words in mind after reading that:

Pizza Hut has nachos?!!

I had no idea. :)

I had that happen at a Dairy Queen. The manager gave us coupons free meals for our entire party. We didn't complain or show any signs of unhappiness. I think he just knew they were messed up and wanted to make sure we knew he appreciated our patronage. In our case, they really hadn't even messed up that badly.

Yes, this was a new Pizza Hut and it was in a fancier building. There were other items on the menu as well that you wouldn't normally find at a regular Pizza Hut. The pizzas we got were actually very good. The entire bill was close to $40.00, so I thought it was really nice that the manager took care of it. :)

Pizza Hut by us recently closed to renovate, and the new place is brighter and much mroe inviting...unfortunately the didn't renovate the service. Takes forever to get a drink, you need to beg borrow or plead for a refill and the food takes a long time to cook. We usually wait for the buffet nights.

That's cool & good to hear! :)

And I bet I know just the place you went to. :) I haven't been there yet...but it is odd that they took over another restaurant (and the don't have the traditional red roof)

This sounds like a Pizza Hut restaurant that has been around for a while near my house. Every time my husband and I went (haven't been back in a long time) they were always out of something. One time I wanted a ceaser salad, they were out of it. Another time we wanted mushrooms on our pizza, were out of it. We just laugh about it!

South Portland, by the Maine Mall. :) I can remember years ago when the restaurant that used to be there, gave you a basket of shelled peanuts and everyone tossed the shells on the floor. :rotfl: I can't remember the name of it, though. It was either East Side Marios, or some place before that one.
