Debating the pros & cons of DDP for our family--

I saw on allearsnet that Pizzafari has a children's menu without pizza (one of the 2 foods my 3 yo will currently eat), but ther is not a childrens menu listed for Pizza Planet--do they have one?

I know our trip is far in the future, but it is so much fun to plan!!

Thanks!

No child menus at any of these:

# Taluca Turkey Legs
# Cool Wash Pizza
# Casey's
# Pete's Doggone Good dogs
# Pizza Planet
# Sommerfest

haa haa...I'm going thru the same thing with an almost 5yo. Pizza, chicken (grilled/nuggets/strips) and steak are his favorites. Oh & the occassional corn dog or hot dog. I think I have all our dining figured out though now. :)

Currently child and adult credits are not separated in your pool of CS credits, though TS are. That could change at any time, however.

Currently, if you go to one of the places where there is no child menu, kids can order a meal, drink, and dessert just like adults can. If you go to a CS place with a separate child menu, then the children must order from that menu. This could also change at any time.

Thanks, Tam.

Another question then on that note...
Say you are at a CS place (we'll have 2 adults/1 child). If the child is not in line with you (as in son & I are doing something else, but Dad orders the food) would you be able to order 3 adult meals? I'm confused now...

And believe me, I'm not trying to abuse the system...just curious how it works. Thanks.

Thanks for this information!

I was wondering too about if the child is not in line with you. Of course my trip is so far off all of this could totally change by Jan. 08.

Thanks again.

So does that mean the kids order off the "adult" menu, but it still only counts as a kids CS credit?
Yes, correct. Again, you may want to read the Dining Plan FAQ, since it provides a lot of basic information like this that you may benefit from.

That would be considered abuse of the system. The rules were clarified in January:

Cast Members are now supposed to be ensuring that guests don't order more adult meals than their room key indicates they're entitled to. Guests are on their honor not to use deceptive tactics (including but not limited to multiple visits to the cashier) to get around this rule or its enforcement.

Thank you for answering my question. I was just curious if the child OR other members of your party actually HAD to be in line with you when you ordered, that's all. I guess to play it safe, we better all wait in line together at CS places so their isn't any confusion.

And I will try to find a copy of the DDP. I booked thru Disney and haven't rec'd any info from them about it. I'll look online.

Here's a link to the PDF Dining Plan Brochure on the Disney website:

It's pretty self explanatory. The easiest way to avoid confusion is to just order exactly the number of meals for all the people in your party (as long as your group hasn't split up). For example, 2 adult meals/1 child meal. Even if everyone isn't really hungry, it's easiest to keep track that way. A lot of families who order fewer than the total credits for their party at each meal just end up with leftover unused credits at the end of their trip anyway.

Another way to do it is to just keep a little running tally sheet of adult's CS and kid's CS in your wallet or purse. You can do that, but it's certainly more of a hassle. And then if you only used two adult meals, when would you order the kid's meal? Probably wouldn't stand in another line later just to order one child's meal.

Other folks have used their kid's CS for breakfast, and snack credits or OOP for adults. Then at lunch they used the adult's CS credits, maybe OOP or a snack credit for an extra item for the child, and shared.

The smartest idea I've seen was one dad said that he and his wife would order their adult meals, they'd order the kid's meals for their children, put everything in the middle of the table, then everyone would just start eating. I thought that was sheer genius ::yes::

No need. Your room key will state explicitly what meals you're entitled to. It will appear like 2A2C (meaning two adults two children).

The brochure is provided to you when you check in to your hotel. You can find a current copy at the link Katiebell provided (though keep in mind that things could change between now and when you check in).
