We were there several weeks ago for the first time and were looking forward to tasting what we had always read was an amazing pizza. My young adult daughter was celebrating her upcoming birthday and has eaten pizza everywhere she has travelled including Europe and the UK. The bottom was quite burnt and the pizza itself pretty tasteless, so a huge disappointment. I am not sure if this was an off night or just that this restaurant has such a buildup that people are afraid to say anything. The service was great and appetizers very good but we laugh that the frozen pizza we later bought at the AKL store was much better.

Was it burned or was it charred? The bottom is supposed to be charred - that's the hallmark of good wood-fired pizza. Personally, I find the topping choices pretty uninspired, but I am lucky enough to have a fantastic Neapolitan-style wood fired pizza place in my town. Most people have never had the opportunity to try it, so what they offer at Via Napoli seems very unique and different from what they normally eat.

That's too bad that happened, I would have sent it back. For me it's some of the best pizza I've ever eaten.

I agree with Alesia. The hallmark of a wood oven pizza is a charred crust. People on the Dis " aren't afraid to say anything". By far most disagree with you. Just your personal taste, not a reflection on the restaurant at all.

Maybe it was just an off night. We love wood fired crusts but this was limp and charred with little flavour in the toppings. I am not a person to say much unless my beef is undercooked. We eat a lot of pizza so maybe were just expecting more. However, i have seen a number of similar reviews. Presentation was great but the blandness was in sharp contrast to similar pizzas we had in Europe. Perhaps I will try it again and pick a different one when I visit in March with my youngest. We had the sausage and it was definitely not my imagination that it was just not very good that night.

Wasn't very good for us either. My grilled pizza at home is better. Our pizza was soggy, not done well, taste was bland.

I couldn't agree more, except for the part about having one near my house as sadly I do not. Their pizzas can be a little soggy after they sit but It's hard for pizza crust that then to stand up to the water from fresh mozzarella

Don't tell me...........:(. Just made ADRs today because I LOVED the pizza so much the last time we were there. Let's hope it was just an off night.

I had pizza at Via Napoli this afternoon. It was delicious as always to me. It's the extra side of sauce that makes it oh so good. :thumbsup2

I think with via Napoli pizza some people just love it and some people don't. My DH LOVES and I mean LOVES this pizza. It's always on his list and I just smile and make a reservation. I'm not a big fan of the pizza. I don't like the charring on the bottom. I think it's floppy and soggy but I know it's just not my type of pizza. Gimmie papa johns any day of the week!! Lol.

We had the exact same experience when we went in Nov. It was the restaurant I was most looking forward to and our biggest disappointment.

The Piccante pizza is our favorite, and I am not a big fan of It. Sausage.

Our family agrees with the OP- It was some of the worst pizza we've ever had and nothing like the pizza they actually serve in Napoli. When we lived in Europe we liked to spend long weekends in Capri. We'd take the hydrofoil out of Napoli and always had some pizza before we boarded. Yes, the crust was a little(not a lot) charred. It was crispy and delicious. The pizza should not be burnt and then oddly extremely soggy at the same time as it was at Via Napoli. The icing on the cake for us was the outrageous prices for something I could have done miles better in my home oven.

What does it mean afraid to say anything? I've been to Via Napoli numerous times and I don't yet have any complaints about the pizza.

Although I do at times see people posting who didn't like it.

I agree about the bottom being charred. its suppose to be that way. We've been to via several times and have always had excellent pizza. My son normally gets the pizza, I get the pasta, and we share. :cloud9: its heavenly I tell you! Always consistently delicious.

But of course everyone has different taste....we cant expect everyone on dis to like all the same restaurants now can we? For those that have upcoming ADRs, keep it, try it out. Dont cancel based on reviews on dis. In case you havent noticed, pretty much every restaurant on these boards have had a negative review.

VN gets a great deal of love here on the Dis. It sure didn't blow me away, though it's by far the best pizza I've had at WDW. If you really want pizza I'd try something off-site. I've heard good thing about Flippers (I think?)...never tried it myself. Doesn't sound dolphin safe.;)

I was also underwhelmed by Via Napoli. It wasn't terrible, but I didn't find it worthy of the praise lavished upon it.

My husband did not like the pizza. We went there the first night and the pizza didn't have much cheese on it and was soggy. We went there our last night and the pizza was good. The appetizers are great! We also had great service! I had made two ADR's for Via Napoli and was so glad our second try was better than the first.
