If anyone has some pixie dust for a clear MRI scan I would be extremely grateful.

A little over 6 months ago, I had brain surgery to remove a cyst. The cyst was causing headaches, double vision and there was a possibility that if it got any bigger, it could start causing seizures. So we went ahead with the 6 hour surgery. Overall, it was consdiered successful but they could not remove it all. The cyst was attached to 2 major blood vessels so they could only drain it but not remove the sac. So that meant that we knew there was a possibility that it could come back. Everyone assumed that if this were to happen, we wouldnt see evidence of it for years.

I went for my 6 month CT scan last week and foun dout this afternoon that the results were inconclusive. The area where the cyst was looks like it could potentially be growing again. It is possible that it is just the sac and nothing new is happening but it is also possible that the cyst is beginning to come back. If teh cyst does come back, I have to have MRIs every 3-4 months to monitor it for the next year. If there is no growth in teh next year, the MRIs can go to twice a year but if it ends up the same size as the last time, they will have to do the surgery again.

I am going for an MRI on Friday so i would be extremely grateful for any pixie dust that this is just the sac and nothing new. I have always appreciated all the support form these boards and am so grateful to have everyone here even if we've never met.

I will send lots of good thoughts your way. You have already had far too many medical issues to deal with for someone so young. I hope you can be "done" for a good long while now.

 I think I really can know how you are feeling. All of it.

I had my 2nd Brain Surgery in May, and then that leaked, back in the next week for 10 days and a spinal surgery. Have been healing, and I hoped and thought it was back at work for me. Now they are worried about the CYST. As it appears to be growing. UGGGH. Had 2 MRI in the past 2 weeks, and now something altogether different has been thrown at me.

I will keep you in my CONSTANT thoughts, and Prayers, about the MRI and more on Friday. Constant ones are a PITA, but better than the alternative.

Keep us up to date, and if ever you want to chat, feel free.:flower3:

I am sending pixie dust and prayers for a favorable result. Some of the findings sound good, inconclusive is not what you want to hear, but is not saying that it is bad news.

I would not think the sac would dissolve and in some way would turn into a scar material and perhaps this is what the findings see. If you were just in for a follow up and the symptoms had not reappeared that is also very good.
So as a Mom would say, find all the good signs and wait for the new MRI to give you the affirmative information you would rather hear.

Oh, after my dd surgery in the cervical neck area the trauma poking, bleeding, and removal of matter created scar matter. This was a grayish white type material that does not dissolve in the body but attaches to a near by area.
While benign it can be scary and a close eye to keep an eye on for symptoms.

many blessings,
pixiedust:pixiedust:

mommasita, I will add you to my thoughts too, how selfless to share your experience and help someone through these emotional times. Many hugs to you both and any others that are in ill health and facing crisis this year.

Oh OP, I hope everything will be ok for you. Anything to do with the brain is so scary because it's so inaccessible, you can't look at it or feel it... you're just stuck waiting for someone to tell you your ok. I hate it, I have some spots and every-time I get new neurological migraine symptoms they go poking around I get worked up a bit, and Pixie dust on their way

Thinking good thoughts for you!!

I've had my own ordeals with scans and medical problems so I know the stress it brings.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks everyone.

This is just the wya its been going lately. Its been one health issue on top of the other for 5 years and especially for the past 3 weeks.

3 weeks ago I had a pelvic laparoscoy to diagnose endometriosis and they found an ovarian mass that was in a position where it wasnt visible on the ultrasound. Luckily, it was benign but that was scary to find out because ovarian cancer runs in my family and the BRCA gene is in my family as well.

Lots of prayers for you that all is well and you don`t need anymore surgery!!

As a survivor of brain surgery with the 1% chance of recurrence, my thoughts are with you. I hope that you have "an unremarkable" brain MRI. :)
