Hi all. I haven't been around in the last week because I got a terrible headach last fri and then on sat morning woke up and it was even worse! Well my DD and DS were at my best friends for a camp out thankfully so I told DH to send baby Bubba over to her also because the headache was the worst I had ever felt!:( Finally Sat afternoon after my best friend threatened to put me on the roof of her car and take me to the emergency room or else I had DH take me. I was thinking the whole time they will tell me it was just a very bad migraine and send me home. Oh how dumb I was!!:( The nurse in triage was asking me if it hurt when I bent my neck forward and of course it did plus I had a 100 degree fever. Well she was nice enough to let me go and lay down instead of having to go back out into the waiting room with all the screaming kids. Was only laying there for about 1o minutes when they took me into a room and the first person I saw was not a nurse but the head er doc!! he started to do an exam on me and asked me how long I had had the rash on me. I looked down suprised and said about 10 mins maybe since I hadn't seen it until then! He then runs to the door that leads to where the nurses are and yells lets rock and roll folks! We need to get a spinal tap and blood cultures done in 10 mins! OMG!! I was totally freaking out when he told me they thought I had menengitis! Well after a painful several minutes of being poked and prodded with every needle known to man they were finally done. My husband comes back into the room the Dr tells him his preliminary diagnosis and hubby starts looking a bit pale and tells me he needs to leave the room. I tell him as he is walking out to call my parents. Suddenly I hear a thud and a nurse yelling in the hall help help someone is down! She then asks the person down if they are ok and suddenly I hear DH's frail voice say yeah what happend? Ok now I am about to have a spaz not only at what I might have but hubby passing out! (I must say he has done it before he has this thing called Vasa Vagel <sp?> but this is the first time he has ever passed out from it!) So they put him in the room across the nurses station from me and the nurse was so kind and to call my parents and tell them that she needs to come they have both of us in rooms! Well my DM and DF get there and are there with me when they tell me the tests are coming back possitive for menengitis and I was going to be in isolation because it could be very contageous! I am having a major meltdown because ever since I was little I have had a major feer of getting menengitis because my father got it when he was 4 and went deaf in his left ear and had major problems from it. Needless to say my DF was just sitting there numb I think hearing that I had it.
So they take me up to my room and make everyone who comes in wear a surgical mask and gloves. I also didn't know if my DH was going home or what till the next morning when he called me from his room 5 floors below mine!! They kept him because his white blood cells were high (they wanted to observe and make sure he didn't have it also) and his heart rate was really slow.
My parents and I have always joked that when I go to the emergency room I do it up and this time DH and I were the talk of the hospital!
Well for the next 3 days it was a bit of a blur because they gave me narcotics to ease the headache which btw only made me throw up. Anyone who saw me going for a cat scan or my second spinal tap probably had a good laugh since here I was with my heavy duty mask and a giant chicken bucket!:p
Finally monday night they got the results back and found out I wasn't contageous!:Pinkbounc and told me they were releasing me to go home that night so I could at least be comfy in my own bed. At the same time they released hubby but didn't tell me so I get home with my DM and DF and out walks my hubby from the house just getting there 10 mins before! :D
So since mon night I have ben on strict bedrest until finally today the headache started to subside. I am so bored since I am not allowed to leave the house until monday morning to go see the Dr:( The dr is running tests to see if I might have west nile and will hopefully know when I go on mon I just hope it is not because if it is I might have to go back in for more tests and another spinal tap! I just hope it is not after 2 taps I have a back that feels like some one kicked me and can't handle another! So please send lots of prayers and pixie dust:wizard:

Sheesh! You are NOT having fun!! I hope this all passes soon....if just for the needles to go away alone! Not to mention your misery!!

OMGGGG!!!!!

Funny?! I know, laugh or go crazy!!

Hope you are feeling better soon!:D

God bless you guys, you certianly have been through a lot! Feel better, and I will say a prayer for you.

Pugsley and Princessa and baby Bubba all had a very unfun weekend also since my darling best freind had a major spaz thinking they were all getting menegitis also and instead of calling me for their insurance numbers called DFS! (they are all foster children) Well she took them to the hospital and they all checked out fine! and were promptly put into emergency foster care! I didn't know until sunday morning where they were either!! I was so tempted to just rip out the dang iv and go find my babies but instead I just layed in bed and cried most of the day worring about them. So needless to say it was aweful the whole thing. But at least tues we got the 2 oldest ones back (even though Dr was against them being home with me yet) and baby Bubba went to stay with a dear friend of mine who is a foster parent and will be coming home probably tomorrow.

Seems you caught our bad luck!!

Hope you're feeling better!!

After DH and Ellie did their club "MED" trips we've banned hospital trips for the rest of the year!!

Glad you're feeling better. :flower3:

When this is over your husband should probably see a cardiologist. :magnify:

Yep hubby already has seen him and going back to him next week :) I told him that since he is such a very laid back guy that is why his heart rate is slow:p He didn't find that too funny then again I said it while in darvoset so hopefully he didn't take me too seriously ;)

What a bad week you've had! My prayers go out to you, your DH and your children.

I know how scary that is- a few years ago the drs also though I had menengitis. Turned out to be a bad blood infection.
And a coworker's wife last year was originally diagnosed with menengitis but then they decided it was West Nile.
Hang in there, glad you and DH are home, and your kids are safe! Everything will be fine.

Oh my gosh, you poor thing! I hope you get a good report from the doctor on Monday and no more needles!

Good luck with your future tests and lots of pixie dust that Bubba made it home fine and you have no more needles!  :wizard: :wizard:

Omg! What an ordeal! I hope you are on the road to recovery.:sunny: I did get a chuckle about you and dh ending up in the hospital together, but I'm glad he is going to see his cardiologist also.:D

Thanks everyone for the happy thoughts. :) Baby Bubba is now home safe and sound right now in his bed sleeping happily! :Pinkbounc
Yes hubby and I both winding up in the hospital was pretty funny looking back on it esp when I had asked the nurse 5 mins before if anyone had ever had one person in there and then the spouse have to be admitted also. Creepy how we were the first!!
I am feeling alot better today and the headache is almost all gone and back ache is getting better each day so now just have to wait for mon and see what happens.

Glad to see that you are feeling better! Prayers and Pixie Dust for a quick recovery for both of you! Personally, I would have been passed out as soon as I saw the needles! I still don't know how I survived the two for the price of one deal for epidurals! I thought that was going to be the reason DH fainted; but I see that wasn't the case!

Get Well Soon!

Jodi

Ouch that doesn't sound fun. I had to go to the er last week but turned out to be just a migraine, thank goodness.
I hope you are feeling better soon

It happens a lot on my cardiac unit - person visiting spouse has chest pain and gets admitted also; or visiting spouse on another unit in the hospital, has chest pain and gets admitted to our unit. Sometimes it happens when friends are visiting also. There are also a fair amount of "codes" outside the building and in the lobby so be careful when coming to the hospital!! :scared:
