Pixie dust is mostly for kids, not adults?

Was watching this youtube video about "12 ways to have a magical Disney trip" or something of the like, and they had a lot of examples such as Sword in the Stone ceremony (this one I think ended though) where someone gets picked to pull the sword out, or some show where a lucky person is chosen to interact on stage. In pretty much all the cases, they state that a kid is chosen from the surrounding crowd, never an adult.

Maybe this is just a sad rant...because I never had the chance to go to DW as a kid and now I'm in my late 20's going for the first time. And I'm even slightly bitter lol that now I would never have even a chance of being chosen simply because of age. I remember a few years back I went to Harry Potter World at Universal for the first time (I AM A HUGE FAN). At Ollivander's I purposely made sure I got to the front (without blocking anyone's view of course) and was hoping I'd be picked for the interactive wand choosing in the beginning. Of course they pick the 7 year old girl next to me. And that's kind of when it hit me...like... "oh right why would they even consider me when there's a kid around".

Does anyone else feel this way? Like yes I'm older, but I honestly think I'd be just as excited as the kid next to me if I were picked haha

One of the things that may help you get sprinkled with pixie dust is a button.

It was suggested to me by a CM when I had to call about something related to the DME for my friend. I told her to send the luggage tags to me (at a Florida address) for my friend’s flight from Wisconsin. She was so nice! “Um, but if you’re in Florida and her luggage is is Wisconsin......” I explained that my friend was soon to turn 65 and we were celebrating her birthday as well as her first visit and I was doling out things as she needed them (magicband, luggage tag, ticket info, etc).

She told me to make sure I stopped at guest services and get her a button so that she could get a little extra magic her way from the CMs.

Now I don’t know if Jean will wear the button, but when my daughter did on her birthday, she got lots of “happy birthdays!” But one CM did something very special for her that we’ve never forgotten.

You won’t get picked for “family of the day” (do they still do that?) but you may get a “my first visit” button and have some experiences that you may not have had otherwise. If you’re up for wearing it, that would be one way to encourage some magic tossed your way when it’s possible.

I'll be honest, I've never felt a need for "pixie dust." Just being there is magical enough for me.

Haha I think it's because I've never been to Disney, so when I hear all these things for the first time they sound really fun.

I can understand where you are coming from for sure, my 1st trip to Disney was when I was 20. During our last trip my sister and I stayed a few days post Disney cruise and we were our birthday buttons because our birthday was in a few weeks. We got free dessert not once...but twice! We didn't ask for it at all but it was a nice touch from the CM to come out and sing us Happy Birthday...on a trip before that we had our buttons on and a CM at the American Adventure had us pick up the phone in the lobby and Goofy was on the line wishing us a Happy Birthday. So many happy birthdays from CMs everywhere too.

We also went with our family one year, mostly adults only 2 kids and we were family of the day at Crystal Palace because we were the 1st family in. We got a certificate and walked in with all the staff welcoming us in it was pretty neat.

I think they will do their best but a button will definitely make it more obvious you are celebrating something.

I get pixie dusted every time I go to MK. They've moved it from the Barber Shop to Sir Mickeys. All you have to do is ask and they do this little presentation where you make a wish and then they sprinkle it all over you.

Also, dont give up on being picked for the wand ceremony at Olivanders. We went in 2016 and both times we went I was chosen over the kids in the room and I'm 40 yrs old!!!

I'm so glad I saw this post! The husband and I are going to WDW in April 2020...we will both be 48. He's NEVER been and I went once when I was like 8, so....I'm an honorary first-timer, I'd like to think!

I wanna get pixie-dusted so bad and it would be so cool to get the hubs to do the Jedi Training, but that's definitely just for kids from what I've heard. I'm so dang excited though!!!

It's Disney. It's magical!!! And yes adults do get picked. I saw two elderly people sitting on a bench and "Mickey" treated them to pretzels. I was "pixie dusted" with a lemonade while waiting for my daughter.

Another show, you may get picked (they ask for volunteers) is the Enchanted Tales With Belle. They actually have adults playing the adult roles.

A lot of finding pixie dust is being open to it! My husband is sooooo type A that Disney is hard for him. Bless his heart, he tries! I always tell him when he gets uptight, “be open to the Magic or you’ll surely miss it!” He’ll mouth it to himself sometimes! . Just like most things, it’s there if you’re open to it! Hope you have a magical trip!

I've been visiting Disneyland since I was a kid and never picked or pixie dust for any of the type of things you've mentioned, although they have more of them now then when I was a kid. Visiting Disneyland, WDW and sailing on DCL I do receive pixie dust but more towards things as an adult I appreciate more such as room upgrades, meet and greets with cast members, free fast passes for any ride and once I even received a free dinner and breakfast at the resort I was staying at. I don't expect any of these things to happen I'm just thankful when they do.

DH and I were at WDW a few ago on his birthday. We were in the YC Marketplace on his b-day. After looking around at the breakfast options and not seeing something in the case that was gluten free I asked one of the CMs if it would be possible to get him a gluten free muffin or something similar. I mentioned that it was his birthday and that he would be pleased if I could find him something. The CM went to the back and
came back with the manager(??- she seemed in charge). She proceeded to get him gluten-free Mickey waffles, bacon and a surprise gluten free cupcake all at no charge. That pixie dust made his day!

Put something awesome. Look the local woman made national news putting she was celebrating her kids are at school. Think big. My son son wanted to be picked for the wand ceremony the lady next to him was picked and she was 50 something so i know it happens.

Doesn help OP at all but my kid got picked to walk with peter pan at park opening. It was amazing he was with him for a good ten minutes.
