Pixie Dust for Britt

Britt's grandfather passed away early this morning. It has been a hard day and Britt is being very quiet about it. We knew a couple of days ago that he was in a bad way but still that phone call hits very hard. In the end he didn't get to say good-bye because by the time we realized that he was very seriously ill he didn't want to see anyone and was on too much medication to talk on the phone so I think it is hard for him because there was no closure. On the other hand his memories of his grandfather will always be that he was healthy, laughing, and being his very very cantankerous self so I guess in one way he didn't have to seem while he was suffering and a shadow of himself. I am not sure which of these is better...

Susan,
Sending my thoughts to you and Britt at this hard time. I didn't get to say goodbye to my mom when she died but I still talk to her when I need to and I know she is listening. Tell him to just yell at him for being so cantankerous and then tell him how much he loves him and will miss him. It does help.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Britt and the rest of the family. My husband's mother died 9/14 one hour after he last talked to her on the phone in the hospital and the sadness he still feels is so deep and complete. We are so sorry to hear of Britt's loss.

It is a hard, hard, hard realization that one will never get another hug, a kiss on the cheek, or hear the cantankerous laughter of a loved one again.
