Day 5...Animal Kingdom! What an awesome place this is...we were unsure what to expect, but what a great time! We were greeted at the front by Wes Palm, the talking palm who "pretended" he was a regular palm when people walked by, to make my husband look silly for talking to a palm tree.
On the safari, so many animals were up close, my son was so excited.
We had a great lunch at Tusker House and enjoyed the African dancers, who chose my DS to join them! Great pictures from that. Flik from "Bugs Life" danced with us and we had a great time at the Lion King Show.
Best of all...our friends from Florida came up to be with us! We all headed to Ft. Wildnerness for "Hoop Dee Doo". Now, I know there are many negative reviews of the show, but we had an awesome time! We are VERY JADED Chicagoans who are hard to impress, but the performers had a lot of energy, the crowd was great and the atmosphere was fun...ok, the ribs were AWFUL, but the chicken was good...and yummy, that honey butter is great. We had a table in the middle of the room and they danced around us...my godson (4) and his sister (6) plus my kids LOVED it! Another magical day.
Day 6...
The day we celebrated our DD's birthday...did I mention when we arrived at the park earlier in the week she asked, "Can we eat in the castle?" and I was like, "What???? Do you know how hard that is to do???"...I called ADR on Wednesday at 7am and guess what??? We got in for Saturday! More pixie dust!
So we head to the castle and we were in awe that we were inside, being called a Royal Family. It truly is beautiful...something I wished to do as a child. The table was decorated for my daughter's birthday with the confetti and streamers and we had a fantastic waiter, Gerjado. Plus, the princesses!
Everyone was sweet and beautiful, but Wendy took the prize. She was a doll, so sweet and smart and she stayed at our table for a long time. We had a beautiful view of the park and my son, who previously stated he "didn't care about princesses" was as enchanted as my daughter. The whole experience was like a dream.
Headed back to MGM for another art lesson in the animation studios and a few more cracks at Tower of Terror. We bought a ton of souvenirs and headed back to the room at POP, with more towel animals waiting.
We headed over to MK to watch Spectramagic...how great is that? The characters all came up to the area we were in and the castmembers were amazing. As we left the park, we were all yelling "We are coming back!!!" as the fireworks went off behind us.
From the service at the POP (they were the ones who left the balloons on my DS's birthday), to the great castmembers, to the magical moments...it was the trip of our dreams. Yes, a little hot, but who cares? We did so much and experienced so much goodwill and met people from all over the world, guests like us who were so nice. The trip was worth every hard-earned penny we saved, especially after wanting to go for so many years. People at work think I was brainwashed, as I can't stop talking about it.
Guess what??? Booked our trip for Disneyland in June and WDW in September today!!!
Best wishes for a magical trip to one and all!
