24 hours from now I was supposed to be nestled in my bed at POR for a week-long WDW visit. We used to go every year. Then we had to start skipping years. This year we had to totally cancel. Sign of the times. OK. Pity Party over. Time to count my blessings--I am truly blessed.

I understand the need for a pity party on occasion and it sounds like you are keeping things in perspective.

I don't know your circumstances, but hope that you get to plan a WDW trip in the near future!

It's always good to be aware of your blessings, but I'm sorry about your cancelled trip. Even if you can't be at POR, give yourself some sort of little treat. Rent Disney movies, get some yummy pastries if you can't get beignets near you, make a delicious dinner, have a little Mardi Gras celebration (I don't know if you have kids or not!), have a nice, long, relaxing bath and spend time with loved ones even if it's not in WDW.

Sorry you had to cancel your trip but you have a wonderful attitude :goodvibes

Can I join your pity party? We have canceled twice this year- as in tried to get one trip in and it got canceled both times. We are hoping to go next year, and like the OP said- we know we are blessed. A Disney trip is just the icing on the cake though.... and man is my new A/C worth it in the GA heat! :goodvibes

Oh, I am sorry! I can totally relate. you can see by my signature...we go to WDW *ALOT!*

BUT...the trips have been fewer and farther between. We are not renewing our Fl resident seasonal passes this year...also taking an abbreviated trip this year. We have done MNSSHP every year since DD was 4 years old. She is now 11 and DH said we may have to skip this year due to finances. I said no way, we will just take a shorter trip and not spend as much $$$ while there. I really enjoy dining out, but will curtail that this year.

SO...my point is...you are not alone! You gotta take care of business at home first...and that sounds like what you are doing. And yes, we are blessed if this is what makes us sad. Disney will still be there next year..and the year after, and the year after!:goodvibes

PP, i know exactly how you feel! we had to cancel any vacation plans we could have made for this year due to a dying heat pump. but in the alabama summer heat, the sacrifice was totally worth it! and, as it turns out, we're going to get to spend 3 days in hilton head, sc, next week courtesy of my sister-in-law! :cool1:

I can definitely relate. We haven't been to WDW since 2008, and we used to go quite frequently. To make it a little worse, my hubby has accepted a job that is 1,000 miles away from our home now, which will then make us even farther from WDW and we will no longer be Fl residents, so I haven't even the slightest idea when I could even begin to plan a trip...I digress..

Most of us are so blessed, and we feel horrible because we really want things in life like going on vacation with our families and loved ones. I know that a little guilt will always follow every luxury and indulgence we allow ourselves but I also believe that in life everyone needs a little relaxation and down time once in a while so it's really only natural to feel sad when you really had your heart set on something and it doesn't follow through.

I know it's easy to beat yourself up and feel pitiful but remember that everything will happen in due time. I always tell myself when I've planned something and it doesn't work out that now I have more time to plan something even better.

So, we'll all count our blessings and plan for something even better. ;)
Anytime you need to host another pity party you can send me an invite too.

Kim :goodvibes

Sorry you're sad OP. I have had to cancel one WDW trip due to a dying relative and it does give one a little :sad1:.

I'm so sorry you had to cancel.

I have a pity party for myself each and every day -- wishing I had a trip scheduled. But honestly, I don't even have one in sight. I have to resort to my photos and the photos posed here on the DIS for my WDW "fix".

:sad1: I feel for you.

Even if you count your blessings, it's still okay to be upset and disappointed about canceling a trip.
