I'm going to the Waterfront for dinner tomorrow anyway. I'll have to check this out! Thanks for the heads up!!

I drive through there everyday on my way home from work so maybe I'll stop today.

To begin with, this is not the same as the Character Outlet up at the outlets in Grove City.

Prior to the Grove City store, for a few months there was a company that opened a liquidation type store. This is what the one in Homestead is like.

If I remember correctly, a lot of stuff was either generic Disney stuff (ear hats, character shirts, etc..) or it was Disneyland merchandise. There was plenty of Disney World stuff as well, just seemed to be slightly skewed towards generic or Disneyland.

Was still worth the trip now and again to go up to Grove City so this one should be worth it as well.

BCV2003, if you go today give us a report! :thumbsup2

I'm in Bethel and will be heading over to Century III tomorrow anyway so it's just another 10 minutes on to Homestead!

Any update? We live south of the burgh and want to see what they have before we go. We arE surprising kids with our first DL trip maybe we could pick up DL merchandise!!!

i'm only 5 mins from homestead...i'm going to head over tomorrow & promise to report back !!!:cool1:

Sorry guys. I did make it there on Friday on my way home from work but this was my first chance to post.

My first thought was that it seemed very junky. Some of their prices seemed very high for an "outlet" store. Much of the merchandise looked to be shirts that I have seen sold in the parks, like the shirts that had the years on them. There was a small amount of Disneyland apparel as well. Prices ranged from cheap to expensive.

I bought my mom a white long sleeved T shirt that had a leopard print mickey head in the center and it was $15. I thought that seemed a bit high as the original price tag on it was $28 and I had to dig through to find one that didn't have a stain on it. I also bought a "First Minnie T-shirt" for a friend of mine who is pregnant and that was $5.49.

There seemed to be some items that didn't really seem like there were "Disney". One was a T-shirt that I bought for one of my nieces that looked like the York Peppermint Pattie logo but it said "Dork" and had a saying. That was only $1.49. I also seem to remember seeing some things that had a JCPenney tag on them. Things that weren't marked clearly I just passed over except for these Camp Rock white stretch denim skirts I thought would have been cute for my nieces but were $12.99. Again, I little high for an outlet type place where things are pretty much thrown around and some things have marks on them. There was a cute Hannah Montana costume but there wasn't any price on it and I saw some other costumes too, maybe pirate?? Can't remember what the others were.

There was a sign that said they will be getting new merchandise all the time or something like that. I would probably stop again since its on my way home but probably wouldn't go out of my way to go there again if it wasn't near me. They are going to be there until about February 26.

There was a glass case on the left side that has some plates in them and some other items but I really didn't look there since I didn't have a lot of time.

I'm curious to see what others have thought and if they found any good deals.

Maureen

AMS buys discountinued merchandise, primarily from DisneyLand. They tend to set up in a location for about five or six weeks. And as they are open longer the discounts increase. They have been doing this for years.

And, BTW, it is a great place to get large quantities of pins, often at less than $1.00 each.

Thanks for the updates. I might head over to find some pins for our trip next week!

thanks. Is there still one up at Grove City? I haven't been up there in forever. I am still fuming Disney Store in Westmoreland Mall left. Now we go to South Hills but geez! That was the best place to buy Christmas gifts killer deals. We were just up at the waterfront before Christmas it is really nice. Didn't get to do much shopping DH was with me. But made out like crazy at carters. I love that store!!

The Disney Character Outlet is still at the Grove City Outlets. The Disney liquidation store was only here for a few weeks and has been gone for quite some time now. I live about 3 minutes from the Grove City Outlets.

thanks. I have never been to character outlet. Are there a lot of great things and good prices? May have to have hubby make a trip up there.

we went yesterday & it surely wasnt worth the trip.

*no pins
*way over priced for items that were stained, ripped etc,
*tables were pieces of ply wood sitting on buckets
*everything was extremely dated

i was really disappointed as we had been to the one is grove city when it was there for a limited time. i saw the "new items arriving soon" sign as well but i dont think i would waste my time again. it was a major disappointment

I'm glad my initial perception wasn't off. My mother also stopped by and felt the same way. I hate to dig through stuff that is stained or has holes, etc.

I didn't see any pins either but thought I could have overlooked them so I'm glad you confirmed that for me.

That's one reason why I rarely go to Gabriel Brothers.

I only live 5 minutes from the Waterfront and decided to stop in as well. Not really impressed, a lot of Disneyland merchandise and shirts from 2006-2007 that were around $15 but the original tag said $19, not too much of a bargain IMO. They also had shirts from Target mixed in and other stuff that had nothing to do with Disney. I did see Red adult Disney crocs for $20, but no pins what so ever.

Well that was a let down.

Went today and I agree with the previous posters. Was a lot of "junk". Came out with spending less than $5.

When they did this liquidation at Grove City a couple of years ago, it was way better than this. I was really hoping for better, but doubt I'll waste another trip.

As stated previously:

Tables were plywood on top of Home Depot plastic buckets.
Prices really weren't discounted all that much
Lots of "junky" items

Girl working said a new truck was to arrive Thursday. If I happen to be down that way in the next couple of weeks, I'll stop in but I won't be making another trip.

Very happy when I got the e-mail...:yay::banana::rotfl:
Very sad now that I've been there...:confused3:scared1::mad::guilty::sad2::sad2::sad2:

I used to work at the Disney Store in Westmoreland Mall. It is so nice to hear that people still care. I was devistated when they decided to close not just because I worked there but also because I Loved that store! I try to go to South hills but it is a trip for me (about an hour or more). I also made it up to the one at Ross Park the first day it opened and I was seriously disappointed. The one in Grove City is all right but it just doesn't give me that Disney feeling that I need when I walk into something owned by Disney. I definately wanna check out this disney outlet by the Waterfront. Hopefully it won't be all junk when I decide to go. LOL
