Pittsburgh Flower Show

We've had 2 threads (that I remember) from the Philadelphia flower show. So I thought I'd share some photos from the Spring Flower Show at Phipps Conservatory here in Pittsburgh (runs through April 13).

First, these are not flowers. For a couple of months over the winter, Phipps hosted a show of Chihuly Glass (I'm sure I mangled the spelling). The show moved on to another city at the end of Feb., but they left a couple of pieces on loan.

Ok, now for the flowers. I had a tough time with metering/exposure. I went on a sunny day so I wouldn't need to use a flash, but exposing for sun and shadows and not wiping out the beautiful colors was difficult. Since it's spring, there's an overdose of tulips. Hope you enjoy them!

Those are beautiful. The tulip pictures are my favorites - so bright and cheerful!

This is the chandelier they bought from Chiully. It is in the entrance atrium. The Chiully exhibit was magnificent. You can check out more of the photos at my smugmug page, chirurgeon.smugmug.com.

I think we are going to the spring show this Saturday. I hope it is sunny, makes the pictures so much easier and of course more lovely.

Kim - I missed that one; just didn't look up when I first got there I guess. Kind of weird-looking, isn't it? Almost like some alien being.

Beautiful photos, I like the lighting. I actually recognize a couple of those flowers, especially the orchids, from the Philly show. Ha, just kidding. Very nice.
