DW & I celebrated our 5-Year Anniversary this past weekend at WDW with a KTTK Tour. (Keys to the Kingdom) While in the Utilidors (that sounds sooo cool!), we saw a poster for the "Soft Opening" of PotC - It's July 1st! Unfortunately, we are back in Indiana now, so we will miss it - but hopefully the info will help some fellow DISers!

As always - a soft opening means that it can open & close at ANY time - but it may be worth walking by if you are going to be near Adventureland this weekend!

Here's a pic of the Captain Jack Pirate Tutorial on Sunday, June 25th to help build the hype!

Wow, Jack looks EXCELLENT!!! Thank you so much! We're going after it's over. *sobs*

I would not be surprised if they continue this well after November - like thru PotC III! It was really neat & the Jack Sparrows "were" Jack Sparrows! The Pirate Tutorials were awesome & there were quite a few people there for them - and even more will be there once they start seeing the reviews on the DIS ;)

It is getting heavily hyped - there was almost as much Pirates stuff as there were Princess stuff throughout WDW!

Oh cool!!! I hope DISers who are down there report back immediately!! I can't wait!

This may be a really stupid question but what is a pirate tutorial :confused3 anyone?? My ds loves POC so I would love to be as informed as possible :thumbsup2

It's definitely NOT a stupid question - as it's brand new! It's a short (15 minutes) "show" with Captain Jack Sparrow in front of PotC at the MK where he teaches new recruits the "fine art of piracy." He gives a pirate spiel & then pulls a few kids from the crowd and they demonstrate sword fighting. Afterwards, they pull most of the kids up for a "contest" - where the kids made 2 lines & then raced a bucket thru the lines (maybe a little cheezy, but at least every kid who wanted to was able to participate). We were kidless this weekend as we were on a "business trip" (ECCU Conference), but we will definitely take the kids when we go next month!

If you can do a search, I'm sure there are several reviews out on the DIS Boards already!

I read that it is to last at least through Dec.31, and I expect that date to be extremely flexible. If they've stopped running this before the end of NEXT year I would be surprised.

Wow, I came up with that idea when I used to work at World of Disney! I can't believe they actually used it! Sweet!! (too bad i signed something to say i can't take credit...oh well)

It's basicaly a new version of the Jedi Training Acadamey one of the reasons it was taken down so soon after starwars weekends, ( It was for a short time to become a perminent attraction)

wow that looks great! and the Jack looks right on! From this distance I would almost mistake him for Johnny himself. Anyone know for how long they'll have the pirate tutorial? I'm going in September and that would be so much fun

That's exactly what I was thinking - it's just a Pirate version of the Jedi Training Academy, except with Captain Jack instead of Darth Vader. You definitely need to pass along kudos to the Captain, Mecha - we both though he was very Impressive!

Can't wait to go on the new version. Glad to hear about the July 1st soft opening. I know many here were hoping for a soft opening before the July 7th date.

One of the Disney podcast sites had a video of the tutorial. I think it was Inside the Magic.

Thanks so much for the info....I will be there for the soft opening and definitely will stop by a few times....I will report back the details!!! Can't wait!!! :yay:
