Pirates returning with Fastpass and Maxpass

Hallelujah. This is the only thing I love riding that DOESN'T have FP, and the line is always wildly long whenever I want to ride it.

I’m bummed it won’t be open for us when we go. I like that they’re adding FP to more non-thrill rides, it’s good for encouraging people with young kids to buy maxpass.

Aww I wish they gave Peter Pan FastPass!
I love going on Pirates right at rope drop and get a boat to myself XD

Wow...I feel bad for DL guests. We've been enjoying FP for all these rides at WDW so I just assumed they had it at DL as well.

FWIW, POTC had FP back when FP was first introduced. I remember getting them in 2003. Eventually Disney decided POTC did not need them. I am guessing that bringing full time FP to HM and now POTC is part of making MP more appealing.

I am trying to remember where the FP machines were located. I seem to remember they were under the bridge but before you go up the ramp at the right or left. There was a central walkway between left and right queues where you could walk through and get them. If I recall.

:wizard:
I remember this! To the left where the line overflows between Pirates and Tarzan. Good memories!

I've asked CMs about that in the past and they've said that it would require major construction and, consequently, probably won't ever happen. There also was something about if they did upgrade it for FPs, they'd also at that time have to make it ADA-compliant, which requires even more work.

Just thinking out loud here on the theory about longer lines due to the addition of more FP rides... assuming the amount of guests in the parks is the same and the ride capacity is the same, then I think the overall time spent in lines by guests will be the same. However, the difference between those that understand the MP/FP system and those that don't will become much greater. If everyone learns how to use the system then the benefit will be lost.

ETA: My family would do really well with additional FP rides, but I do feel a little guilty when other people wait in super long lines all day simply because they don't understand how to use the system.

I remember a post here a little over a year ago showing plans for construction of FP machines for POTC. That's all I remember, though. There were permits, but I don't remember exactly where they were going in.

Well, I actually think it was a mistake for WDW to add FP to almost everything. Some rides just don't need it, and it messes up the flow of the queue. Overall, the DL FP system is much better than the FP+ system of WDW.

I agree the DLR system is better for DLR. The WDW FP+ system at DLR? There would be rioting in the streets of Southern California. However, I cannot figure out why DLR did not build out their wifi like WDW did to make MP work better. Especially for international visitors.

Now, the debate about FP+ at WDW is one which has literally gone through hundreds of thousands of posts on the WDW forum. For me, I think it works. I love, love, LOVE Magic Bands. In case I was misunderstood, I LOVE THEM. PLEASE BRING THEM TO DLR DISNEY GODS.

FP+ at WDW? It has goods and bads. I was originally opposed to the idea. But I see lots of advantages the naysayers do not want to acknowledge.

Please tell me you are not really starting another debate about the impact of FP on wait times. Be prepared to have all kinds of bad things said about your intelligence and character...Just sayin'. ;)

My biggest issue with FP+ is that they added FP to so many rides where it is not needed. I get that they needed to increase the capacity, but some rides just don't work well having an FP and Standby line. Also, how does a guest feel when they take that FP for something but when they get to the ride the wait would have only been 5 minutes anyway? Overall, I like the FP+ and scheduling my choices but I still think some rides don't need it. If capacity is an issue they need to build more attractions (which they are doing) that work well with FP.

And again, not to dog FP+, but MaxPass was amazing! So, yeah, I'll give DLR the edge on the FP front.

I was discussing this exact question with some CMs when MP first rolled out. Their answer was that during the testing phase, Disney could not figure out how to make the wifi strong enough for park guests, but contain it within the berm. Whenever they made the wifi good and strong, it seemed that most/all of Anaheim would figure it out and bum free wifi rides at Disney's expense. So TDA's answer was to weaken the wifi so that it was just barely strong enough to serve guests' needs (well, yeah, sort of), but not strong enough to be attractive to anyone else. Why does this sound like such a typical TDA response?

Yah, I was wondering if that was the reason. That sounds very shortsighted. They need a solution.

How about they make the WiFi only available to those with tickets who have scanned into the park for the day, just like MP? They know how to limit my ability to get a FP via MP until I've scanned in, why not the same with the WiFi? Then only park guests who are in the park that day can use it, and it can be made strong and not worthless?

I guess we have been lucky but I have never waited more than 10 minutes to ride Pirates so I actually am surprised it will have fast pass. I love MP though, I think it's totally worth the price as it just adds so much convenience to the day - one of the main reasons we have put off taking ourselves across the country to WDW is how far in advance you have to book fast passes and that you can only book a certain number per day - to that I say, thanks but no thanks!!

Ha! Not trying to start another debate! It really doesn't matter what I think, or what everyone else thinks. We can just do our best with whatever system Disney gives us. So far, I LOVE the MP system so I won't complain about FP being added to a couple more rides. We just have one more trip left on our year of Disney anyway, and I'm sure we'll have a great time. We've gone during some busy times and have rarely waited more than 20 minutes for rides, and those times were due to poor planning on our part.

Don't waste one tiny little moment feeling bad. We have the advantage of starting every single day with a blank slate. That includes the ability to reride headliners by fastpass if you like. I'll take that any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Where do you think I got at least half of my 50K posts? ;)

Well of your 50k posts about a hundred or so are debates with me. So to get to half of 50k (i.e., 25k) you had to have about 249 other DISers to debate a hundred times with each of them. If you have any friends left on DIS, kudos to you! If so I would chalk it up to your soft, non-confrontational approach. ;) It would be nice if you start telling us what you really think in plain English. :rotfl:
