We are staying at Poly so we will have that vantage point from which to view the fireworks. I know the new show has castle projections so it's best to be in the park. We will have 4 kids in the group (ages 13 mos. - 5 1/2). Not sure the kids will appreciate "best" vantage point.

I know they are two completely different experiences but we don't want too many late nights at parks since we plan RP on most days so we have to choose one or the other. If you have young children, which experience has the biggest "fun" factor? (The baby may stay back at the hotel with grandparents so going more by what the 4 and 5 1/2 YOs would enjoy).

We did both on our trip last week. Pirate and pals was definitely more"fun" (especially for the adults), and it was a good fireworks show, but you aren't really experiencing Happily Ever After. It is just a fireworks show set to music.

If you want to experience HEA (which you should) and won't be at MK for it another night you should do the dessert party. If You are truely looking for more "fun" then do pirates and pals.

My kids LOVED Pirates & Pals (they were 6 and 8 at the time). Meeting Hook and Smee is something you can't do many other places (if any), and the captains make the boat part really entertaining. Plus you get a dessert party type thing there, too. Yes you do miss the HEA projections, which is a bummer. But if you're thinking strictly of what kids might enjoy more, I'd lean toward Pirates & Pals. I do agree though if you only have one night to see the MK fireworks, you should probably see it from the park.
**If you decide on that, DON'T do a TS meal right before. Wish that had occurred to me lol.

Given the ages of your kids, I would highly recommend PnP! Your kids won't "miss" seeing the projections and the treats beforehand are a kid's paradise - cotton candy, "birthday" cake, ice cream bars, etc. The Dessert party desserts are, in my opinion, a little more adult focused. For the overall experience, I think pirates and pals is far and away the best bang for your buck.

ETA: I agree with what the PP said if you decide to do pirates and pals, definitely schedule an early dinner or late lunch.
