I can not believe they have changed the date from the 24th to the 26th. I am just glad that we are not arriving until the 27th. We have already rescheduled our visit for the ride once and we can not change it again. I just hope they leave the date alone this time!

I knew they were going to do this as soon as I pre-paid for our hotel room. We can still ride it, we plan on arriving on the 25th, and hitting DL either the 26th or 27th. We'll be in the SoCal area until July 5th, so it's possible we could still go another day, except we won't be staying in the Anaheim area. Instead of pushing the date back, they should just make the imagineers work nights :thumbsup2

They are probably changing it, because of the Movie premier on the 24th. It is probably easier to wait until the event is over. They might have it open for the people at the premier that night, but will not open it until the 26th to the public.

The movie premiere for Dead Man's Chest is being held at Disneyland on June 24(the park will close at 5pm this day). Because of this there will be bleachers, etc set up in the area. If the ride were to open too, the traffic patterns would be a nightmare. Its not lack of time that is the problem, its lack of space to have everything happening at once.

We posted at the same time Texas!

Texasfan...do you have a link for the date change.

Yep blame them thinking they need to have the premier in the park again. No one is going to get to ride before then. So I am not surprised at the slight date change.

Actually, they do!! My friend's brother is an imagineer in FL (computer type guy). When they did the last major programming overhaul of Pirates he was in CA for two weeks. They would load the new computer programming on every night after the park closed. They would work on the program (synchronizing everything, new movements, etc.) all night long and then load the old program back up in the morning.

Are you kidding me!!! :sad2: I will arrive on the 25th. I did this to avoid the premier and the last Grad Night. So this means even California adventure will be crazy! I am a little torked, I was trying to avoid the July 4th. time and then the July rush. Ugh.. this really is a drag...Oh well, cant change now :furious:

We're in the same boat. We arrive late on the 23rd, so our first park date is going to be the 24th. I am also upset about it. :rolleyes2

For those of you going around the date pirates will open up again this was from the disneyland park update on mouseplanet. It looks like they are considering opening up the ride on the 25th.......Pirates of the Caribbean closed March 6 – June 26, 2006, for major refurbishment and show updates. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest will premiere at Disneyland on June 24. Ride may be available to public on June 25.

Even so I feel bad for everyone going that week it's going to be insanely packed and quite a few shows are cancelled. Not to mention the early close of DL. Blah!

yeah, my dad worked with a crew that laid new track for the horse drawn trolley on main street one year. All he had to do was drive the truck hauling the new track. They had them waiting behind the scenes until the last guest was out, and they got to work right away. The asphalt machine was waiting for them to finish, he said at 7am there was a guy hosing down the hot asphalt ready for the park opening.

What I meant is they need to work days and nights on refurbs that have the rides shut down, but in this case it's all due to the movie premiere. Ah well :/

We're one of those families you can feel bad for azgal81. My DH pleaded with me to go to DL over WDW this summer and we booked our trip months ago for June 17-25 thinking we'd enjoy the weather and everything would be open. Now we're dealing with all this POTC stuff! Unfortunately it would cost almost $1,000 to change our flight--something we'd probably do if it weren't so expensive. Wish we would have postponed our 1st DL trip to next summer!
