Pirates Open?

I heard a rumor...just a rumor mind you....that POTC would be open for parts of April. Has anyone heard this? I heard they may have like 'soft openings'. It would make my trip!!

From this week's park update on mouseplanet.com:

Pirates of the Caribbean – is closed through July 6 for the addition of characters from the movie that was inspired by the ride. The attraction will reportedly reopen briefly for the peak Easter crowds (we are hearing April 9-30) before closing again to complete the refurbishment

According to the most recent Podcast from Disney, it was stated that while nothing official is being released, this small opening window may be pushed back further.

Evidently they are installing a fog system in part of the attraction and to do so they had to remove a large portion of a wall or something like that. They will not reopen the attraction (even temporarily) until the effect is placed and completed (since opening without completion will expose a large hole where the effect is to be place, where it will likely be concealed once completed).

Also, the effect, even though completed, will NOT be running when the attraction re-opens, and will run only after the full rehab is complete.

Good luck to you I hope it is open when you go. I am just glad that it will be open for my trip in September

It was open last weekend when we were there. They said that it was going to close soon and then reopen in July.
