Pirates Open Or Not!

Does anyone have any concrete info as to whether Pirates will be open in April. I hear it is then it isn't. I am going in April and would love to know one way or another. Thanks.

Its not open! I went on Sat and it was already closed. The cm I talked to said it might open when the movie opens or summer. Hope that helped!

My friend went to Disney for the first time March 14-21. I really wanted her to do Pirates, but it was closed. Won't reopen until the release of the move Pirates movie. I'm sad it'll be closed when we're there in May.

I am sorry, but am a little disturbed by the "new Pirates" ride. I loved the movie but I'm not sure if I'm ready for a "new" ride. I remember this ride when I first went to Disneyland when I was 14. (Let me tell you that I'm probably older than most of you here on this Board!) Remember, that the movie was based on the ride, not the other way around! (Please do not flame me. I'm too old for controversy!)

Pirates of the Caribbean - will close the attraction in March to update the attraction to include characaters from the Movie Pirates of the Caribbean. Reopens July 7th. The attraction will feature the addition of two of Hollywood?s most infamous buccaneers, Captain Jack Sparrow and his nemesis Captain Barbossa. Joining the wildest crew that ever sacked the Spanish Main, Captain Jack and Barbossa add an exciting new twist to the attraction?s original storyline as they race to be the first to claim a cache of plundered treasure. The rival swashbucklers will be seen interacting with some of the more familiar Audio-Animatronics buccaneers found inside the ride-thru adventure. Also making a guest appearance is the ghostly Davy Jones from the second movie in the series, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man?s Chest. But new characters are only the beginning. New special effects will also be added to enhance the ?Pirates of the Caribbean? theme park experience.

DH and I are upset we won't get to ride Pirates, it's one of our favorites!

Sorry, I don't have anything concrete but as recently as today I am still reading rumors on other sites (from someone who seems to be a fairly reliable source) that POTC will re-open for a portion of the month of April before closing again for the second phase of its rehab. The latest dates I saw for the temporary re-opening were April 8 - April 30. Hope that helps!

We are Annual passholders and DVC and I know with a lot of the new rides they have a sneak preview for passholders and DVC. I hope we get the chance when we go in mid june

That was the plan. But plans have since changed. The attraction will not reopen until early July.

I also saw this from a very reliable source. Though things at WDW are always subject to change at the drop of a hat. For those of us going in April, we just have to expect it to be closed and if it is open by some chance, consider it a wonderful surprise.

There are signs up in the Utilidors stating that POTC will reopen on April 7 and close again on May 10.
