A friend of mine went to Disney Land her whole childhood & remembers a restaurant there. I am almost 100% that there isnt one in WDW but she says it a little known secret so maybe theres one in WDW that I dont know about. Anyone know for sure? Thanks so much!:D

I've never heard of one in WDW but saw the one at DL. It's supposed to be very good though, I think it's called the Blue Bayau or something like that. I believe it's the only sit down in DL.

The Blue Bayou is absolutely the best! We eat there every time we are at DL-- monte cristo sandwiches, mint juleps...I could go on forever...It's inside the Pirates of the Carribean and the tables are next to the water as the boats go by, really neat, like eating on the veranda of a Southern mansion. As I understand, there isn't a WDW counterpart (nor is there a Club 33).;)

Wasn't there something called The Pirate and the Parrot? I think it was counter service though.

Mint juleps and Caribbean pirates seems like a mismatch in theme-maybe something about the Triangular trade route or something-my 4th grade history is but a dim memory...
but who can say no to a cool mint julep?

The closest thing in 'feel' to the Blue Bayou at WDW is the San Angel Inn in the Mexico pavilion at Epcot; perpetual twilight, boats drifting by on the river beside the tables, etc.

We LOVE the Blue Bayou at DL. To me, the Pirates ride at WDW just isn't the same without sailing past the Blue Bayou before going down the waterfall.

The restaurant at Mexico also has the 'dusk/night time' feel, but the tables are way TOO close together. We tried eating there twice for the Blue Bayou 'feel', but it doesn't cut it. We won't be there a third time.

the blue bayou is awesome...i don't remember ever eating there a a child, but when i was at DL last year with my FH, he took me there for a nice romantic dinner...it was wonderful!!! if WDW had the blue bayou in the MK, that is definitely where we would have our wedding night dinner!! but alas, i know that it's not there...i wish i could remember what we had...it was some kind of chicken alfredo stuff with vegetables i think...it was wonderful!!

Mint juleps! Do they serve alchohol in MK at DL or are they non alchololic?

We love the place especially New Orleans Square. That is one thing that WDW' version is lacking.Maybe the person you talked to was thinking of El Pirata Y el Perico counter service restaurant across from POC.
Blue Bayou is the only sitdown restaurant in DL but they do have a sitdown tableservice dessert bar for Fantasmic which you have to line up to reserves sometimes hours before park opening.

The mint juleps are non alcoholic.Club 33(private) serves the only "real" mint juleps and alcohol.

This probably belongs on the DL section but here is info:

lilboo: Pirates and Mint Juleps? Absolutely!!! One of the most famous pirates, Jean LaFitte made his home base in New Orleans! Of course, he considered himself to be a "Privateer"/businessman. He dealt in just about every kind Piratical debauchery, including the slave trade!:earseek: :(

WDW doesn't have a Pirates of The Carribbean restaurant, but DLCalifornia and DLParis do.

At DLC it is called Blue Bayou and it is GREAT the seafood specialities are really fresh and delicious and the peaceful setting is great.

AT DLParis it is called Blue Lagoon and is just as great.

There is a secret restaurant at DL in the pirates area. It is called Club 54 and is exclusively for this "club" of members/sponsors of Disneyland. My sisters husband is a member and they had there wedding reception there. I think you have to be well connected to have a membership. I have seen celebrity's dining there as well. To the best of my knowledge, there is not one at WDW, but I've heard they have some private dining space.

Thank you for the enlightening post DivaofDragons! No better way for a Caribbean pirate to cool off than downing a mint julep-oh and the debauchery that must've ensued, oh my!

The modern-day context of mint juleps, the kentucky derby, southern belles and all things genteel have possibly washed away some of the earlier connotations of the devilish drink!

But no alcohol at Blue Bayou-what's a modern-day Pirate to do?:(

Actually, the Disneyland Club is called Club 33. It is the only place in the DL park itself that serves alcohol.

It is upstairs above the shops in New Orleans Square.
It is a private club for members and their guests only.
The waiting list for membership usually lasts about 2 - 4 years, with an individual membership fee of $7,500 and dues of $2,500 per year.

Check out Club 33 info at: http://www.snopes2.com/disney/parks/club33.htm#add

Thanks Tina- I got my numbers mixed up- I think theres a club 54 in new york or something- Didn't know it was that easy to get into it- my sister said he's been a member for a long time and it started out as a corporate kind of thing.

If you ever want to dine at Club 33, Keep an eye out for the special events and tours Disneyland has from time to time (laughingplace.com usually announces them). These frequently include breakfast at Club 33. I attended the first Herb Ryman/Imagineering event and got to have breakfast at Club 33 as part of the deal. I have noticed that they have had several events since then that included this.

Club 33 is wonderful, I was invited to eat there by two friends who are members. Oh, if only I had a spare 10 grand around, I'd join!!

I suppose you can't get (nonalcoholic) Disneyland-style mint juleps in WDW then, eh??
