This evening we were at Epcot. There Disney was hosting some Imagineers around the park and discussing the future of some of Disney's classic attractions. All of these discussions were a part of interviews that are being filmed for upcoming DVD and video releases about the parks. During a casual conversation, I listened to one of the head Imagineers discuss the future of Pirates of the Caribbean. In particular they were dicussing Florida's version of the grotto section. Keith Juergensen, some better know him as Lindsay, described how parts of the cavern's decoration will be removed in order to add new elements to make POTC in WDW orginal. The part that bothered me was that he specifilly mentioned that the beach scene of skeletons will be completely removed.
I understand that Florida version of POTC has always been thought of as less spectaclur then the California version, but for Disney to remove such a famous scene, seems far too extreme. I was very upset when they removed the talking skull. With two important scenes to be eliminated, I really wonder what is coming in to replace them.
