This is a review for the one and true Disneyland PotC which opened yesterday, not the inferior stupid WDW version.

The simple answer:
Mixed.

The Good:
New soundtrack and general cleanup are awesome. I've never seen it sparkle like this or sound that good.

The Jack sparrow and Barbossa figures are just really really really good. Excellent modelling work.

The preparedness for the long lines was good. I don't know how they'll show Fantasmic this summer with this line, but the layout and how they run it was good. If only the rest of the park could run so smooth.

The Sparrow scene at the end is really neat.

The new storm FX

Incorporation of movie soundtrack was awesome.

The fair.
New entrance sign is good and the new parrot as well, but I liked the old sign

The new Jack Sparrow dialog. It doesn't entirely make sense. Why is Barbossa attacking a town looking for Jack, when jack doesn't have the treasure?
Later in the ride, things make a little more sense, but the first bit lost me a little.

The Bad:

Davy Jones. There is just absolutly nothing worthwhile about Davy Jones' inclusion in this ride. It actually makes me angry. The way it was described, I was expecting a ghostly apparition with some significant dialog. HA! What you get is a High Definition CGI shot as clear as from the movie which pops on for a few seconds to spout something, then disappears only to reappear 5 seconds later. It's really horrendously bad.

In short, if it weren't for Davy jones and a bit of confusing dialog from Barbossa, I'd really like the changes. I missed the unPC wench chasing as the only turntable I caught was still the other way.

Thanks for the review. I'm kind of disappointed in the whole character of Davy Jones with the tentacles and all, so I'm glad he was kept to a minimum if he had to be included at all. I can't wait to see both versions, as it will give me an excuse to visit both properties :thumbsup2

(Of course, it won't happen to quickly, but that's ok)
