Pirate's League - worth the daily hold time?

I waited way too long and Pirate's League appointments are booked up for our visit next month. I know if you call every day you MAY end up with a spot from what I've read...but the 30-45 minute hold times are KILLING ME. Anyone had experience recently with how likely it is that I'll grab a spot? aka should I keep trying or give up? My kids know nothing about this so they won't be disappointed. I just need moral support right now, I guess.

I am not sure when you are going, but when we went last year in late Feb. I believe, my two sons were able to get in right then and there as walk ups. We passed it and we asked on a whim and they said no problem. Might be an option if you are never able to get a spot over the phone. This was in the later afternoon around 2-3 I believe.

Anytime I have to call Disney, I call first thing in the morning (right at 6:59-7:00am ET) or otherwise when I know I'll have something else to keep me busy - I just put the phone on speaker until someone answers.

update: It only took me two times to get this! The first call I made was around 4pm on a weekday and I was on hold for 90 minutes (bless you, speakerphone). I waited a week and called again, this time around noon - and ZERO WAIT. Someone picked up immediately and found a spot for my two kids right in the perfect window for our plans! A Disney miracle.
