Pirates Firework Cruise

My DH and I were going to take our DS 17 and his girlfriend on this when down at disney, she is 18, my son is afraid it will be too babyish

How is this experience for teens

I believe that nothing at Disney is " too babyish ". We all become kids, there. We are going on the Pirates cruise in September., our ages are 58, 57, 31, 29, 28, & 28. We are all looking forward to it. I read about a dad that went by himself, and enjoyed it.
The fireworks show be spectacular for the water!

I did this cruise with my DD aged five and my parents (the grandparents) and i think they enjoyed it more than she did. Its a lot of fun and a great way to see the Wishes and the Electric Water Pageant and there were a lot of adult only groups on the cruise with us. The guides for the evening are hilarious (and there were adult laughs in there as well). My parents loved it and said they would gladly do it again on their own.

However in the end if you are looking for something more adult you could always do an evening meal at California Grill, they have an observation deck from which you can view the Wishes and they have the soundtrack piped into the restaurant to accompany it. Alternatively there's the Dessert Party in Tomorrowland though I've never done this so perhaps other forum members can tell you whether or not its worth it.

I've done it twice with DD at ages 14 and 15 and she loved it. (However, she's a big Disney nerd.) There's a lot of humor that's geared toward adults, and the skippers are really funny.

It does help if you and your family aren't afraid to get into the spirit of things. Typically, they'll announce each family's name, and everyone cheers when their family is announced. They'll have Disney trivia questions -- DD won a rubber ducky last time. If your sons are the "too cool for school" type, they might not enjoy it as much, but if they don't mind being a little goofy, it's a lot of fun.
