I remember years ago there were tons of fireflies in the beginning of Pirates when you are going through the swamp and now theres only like 2 or 3. What's up?? I always thought the fireflies were so cool! Anyone know why they don't keep them up?

That's because almost all have left for a while. The few that have remained behind, do so because they are too old to be interested in anything other than just buzzing about the bayou. And that is because at this time of year is the mating season for fireflies. So up they went and flew off, to another part of the bayou, a much deeper part, where only natives and lost souls know the way. Here, in what is arguably the most mystical area of the ol bayou, resides the almost magical like dance of the fire flies. Where they dance and show their bright colors to prospective mates.
Don't worry though, they will return soon enough to the part of the bayou, where they enjoy listening to the strumming of the old man's banjo.

What the heck was that? I think you better check the ingredients in your cough drops.:)

I'm guessing it's due to lack of upkeep. My son noticed just one on this trip, and I know there used to be a lot more than that.

There was a thread on that other site about this. There was someone who claimed to make them but that Disney had just let the existing fireflies "die" and didn't want to pay for replacements.

Lol! It has nothing to do with that however.
Oh look.....over there! There goes another firefly buzzin about.

;)

I hadn't even thought about the lack of fireflies within the past few years, but now that you mention it, I don't recall seeing them very much. Now I'll have to go and ride it to see if I can count how many fireflies have not migrated away.
