Ugh I am going to DL in 6 weeks and just found out POC is closed the entire time we are there. We are WDW vets and really wanted to see POC in DL. Oh well guess thats a reason to go back to DL again!

Great attitude!! It's been down since Labor Day and won't reopen until Thanksgiving. Even frequent visitors are sad it's closed.

Bummer. The POTC refurb rumors started in June and it has been a frequent topic since then around here. Hope your trip is otherwise magical.

Yeah, i'm always disappointed when POTC is closed for our trip.:sad2:
My grown DD really wanted to go to MHP and ride in her Pirate costume.:guilty: Oh well.

I was so crushed about ths one too...it's my and DH's favorite and we were planning to do Blue Bayou for the first time too for our first trip back to DLR in over 10 years and first trip with our kids ever!:sad2:

It would be wonderful if they finished the rehab early! :wizard:

We were disappointed as well. We were also going to go to Blue Bayou for the first time.

It will be the first trip to DLR for my whole family. I cried a little when I found out. PotC is one of my favorite rides in MK and years ago I had a girl on my boat complaining about how WDW wasn't as good as DLR's PotC. Ever since then I wanted to go to DLC to ride PotC. :( BUT I told EVERYONE in my family this is a reason I will be going back in the future. At least it will be Christmas when I go! That's something I'm looking forward to!

But imagine a family of 6 going to the blue bayou! That would have been pricy! ;)

The common discussion around here is that off-season trips work best for folks:
  • who visit DLR regularly (at least once a year)
  • with young children (who don't care about headliners as much)
  • with mobility issues (who need lower crowds)
Such people are much less likely to be disappointed by refurbs and reduced show schedules.

Other folks should seriously consider high season trips. Yes, it is more crowded (although often not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be) but the chances of refurbs and disappointment is greatly reduced.

I hope all of you have magical trips otherwise and get to come back when POTC is running. It is my favorite ride at any Disney park anywhere - and I have been to all of them (except for Hong Kong! :goodvibes).

The only reason I'm going is because my father has some training to do out there (California) and my mom was going with him and she's obsessed with Disney (as I am) and so she wanted to stay longer to go to Disneyland. My dad agreed to go to DL with her and soon he decided he wanted us kids there too! It was very spur of the moment, now you have less than three months to plan this trip and pay your own way.

I wasn't planning on going to DLR for another couple of years, so I jumped on the chance to go! If I don't hate it, which I probably wont, I'll definitely be returning!

We have been on POTC at DL in the past and loved it. We are going this time of year for our 20th wedding anniversary. We are splitting our DL stay with the Mexican Riviera cruise. We will have an awesome time!

We have the pirate costumes packed for the MHP and are praying to the high heavens that a miracle will happen and they open up for the party...not likely but a girls gotta dream!
