Has anyone done both of these and have a preference?

DD will be 4 and DS 2 so I would like to be able to experience the fireworks without dealing with the crowds. There will be seven of us in total so the price difference between the Tomorrowland party and the pirates cruise is fairly substantial, but DS loves pirates and as I have BBB booked for DD I thought it may be nice to have something special for DS.

I am leaning towards the cruise but I know DH will have a coronary when he finds out how much it costs!!:rotfl:

Why don't you sign your DS up for pirate's league, and get everyone to the Dessert Party ?

the cruise is $59.99 (A) and $30.99 (C)

the pirates league is $29.95 (starting at)

and the dessert party is at $36 (A) and $15 (C)

for the cruise you need to pay for every accompanying adult, when the pirate league can be for the kid alone.

If you do Pirates league for your son, it will be an experience on par with BBB for the little lady.
and everyone will be able to enjoy the fireworks dessert party

you can do it all without messing with your husband's blood pressure :)

Why not try for a Wishes or Illuminations Cruise? It would be far cheaper than the dessert party and they provide snacks and drinks on the boat. You get to see the fireworks without the hassle of the crowds. It is quite expensive but would probably still work out cheaper than the dessert party and you would still have to deal with the crowds leaving the Magic Kingdom.

chmurf, the OP's son is too young for the Pirates League as the minimum age is 3.

I agree with Joh - go for a Wishes Cruise. You will get a private boat and no dealing with crowds.

They provide cans of drink (coke, diet coke & sprite I think) and bottles of water along with some bagged snacks. I think we had various crisps and some popcorn.

They give you a tour round bay lake and you get to watch the water Pagent from the boat too.

Hi Guys,

Apologies for jumping in mid thread!! The Wishes Premium Cruise sounds fantastic, however I can't seem to find any info on how to boom the cruise etc! Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks x

All the information you need is in the link I posted earlier in Post #3. :)

We prefer the dessert party, but I think it's a personal preference. We really enjoyed the Wishes dessert party for all the reasons you mentioned, you're out of the crowds and you see the whole show!

Desserts are not the best in the world, some are better than others, but just being out of the chaos is great with little ones.

oops, you're right.

Agreed

But I'd also ask the OP a question : how does your 2 year old cope with staying up "late" ?
The cruise experience is rather long it starts 90 minutes before the fireworks. The dessert party starts 1 hour before (and depending on your assigned time, the wait can even be shorter)
I remember when DS was 2.5 years old, he would consistently fall asleep minutes before the fireworks at DLRP and wouldn't wake up even with the loud music coming from the speakers just above us (and the loud bang from the fireworks went unnoticed too)

The staying up late thing is something that concerns me. I think he would be fine as a one off but after being on the go for almost two weeks I think it may be a bit much.
After discussing this with the rest of the family I think it has been agreed that we won't put the kids through a fireworks cruise or anything this year. If they are able to stay up one night we could maybe watch them from the poly or something. Instead DH and I will do the fireworks party on our own for one of our "date nights."
Hopefully we will have another trip in a couple of years and we can do the pirates cruise then.

He might surprise you - our DD has always made it to the fireworks ever since 9mths old. We always watch them in the park and most nights of the trip.

Don't be scared to be in the parks - it's not that bad.

DD has fone the fireworks right from her first visit st 5months. We would just plan naps accordingly that day. Usually a nap late morning and a long nap late afternoon.

Not something we did everyday obviously but she always saw each show once per trip.

It does depend on the time of fireworks though. We go in sept when they are a little earlier.

The fireworks are mostly at 10pm with a couple of 9pm shows early in the week. I will see how it goes....
