Pirates 4 becoming "Priority" for Disney

I always knew this one was comming. I have a good feeling it will be something about the fountain of youth as hinted in the 3rd. I like the 2nd and 3rd one better than the first. The story/plot whatever you want to call it is more interesting.:goodvibes

This is all speculation as Elliott and Rossio haven't completed the script, as far as I know.

I've read a few stories, based on hints from the writers, that the search for the fountain of youth is merely being used as a plot device to re-establish Sparrow and Barbossa pitted against eachother. However, ultimately the fountain of youth wont be the main 'quest' in the movie....and they'll reportedly be going after "Atlantis" or some 'jules-verne style quest into the depths of the earth.

Granted, I'm not going to get too worked up over this....even if it sounds outlandish. In my opinion, the 3 pirates movies are some of the best written, well rounded movies ever conceived...(and most certainly the best movie trilogy ever developed.....) and I have full faith that Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio will hit it out of the park.

i am super excited about a 4th movie!! :thumbsup2 while i agree there were parts of two and three that were, um, strange (multiple jacks roaming around?!? :confused3 ), to say the least, i think they will get back to what makes the films so great in the first place!!

can't wait!!

I actually kinda liked 3 but was bored to death by 2. I think they need to stop using all the same characters except for maybe a cameo or two. Let Jack be the only recurring character.

hmm why is this becoming a priority to disney??? oh right, it's gonna make tons of money no matter how bad or good it turns out to be. I'm truely surprised that we haven't seen an entire Stitch saga with all the fanatics associated with that franchise. i do like the pirates of somalia idea.

The man who directed the "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, Gore Verbisnki, will not return to helm the fourth installment. As a result, Walt Disney Pictures and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have been looking for his replacement by meeting with a number of directors in the recent weeks.

Variety is now reporting that Rob Marshall (Chicago, Nine) is currently in final negotiations to take the job and get the film in front of the cameras by next year, before Depp goes off to make "The Lone Ranger."

And even though Marshall is not officially confirmed, the studio says that things looks good enough that it has already started to cast new "Pirates 4" characters.

There was some speculation that Gore might actually be lured back...since the project that he was involved with (which some speculate is the reason he didn't take the POTC4 job) fell through....

Regardless, I have faith it the franchise will do well regardless....The Harry Potter movies have had different directors, with success none-the-less...

Please, no more pirates.

The second one was marginally watchable and the third one was horrible. It didn't even take place in the Caribbean! Reminded me of that Miami Vice season opener from long ago that took place in New York City. Besides, POTC3 was the most expensive movie in history at $300 million. I don't care how much it made, it wasn't worth a government subsidy. The films became more mundane, less funny, repetitive and boring as they went along. A POTC 4 will no doubt make money, but that doesn't meant it will be good.

Enough already. Let's move along.

I agree. I thought Dead man's chest #2 was worse that World's End #3. Dead man's chest was extremely annoying, stupid, too long. World's end wasn't good. The first one was the best and will be the best if they make anymore. I mean what else is there in the story. NO MORE PIRATE MOVIES PLEASE!!!!!!
