Pirate & Princess Party- What to expect???

We've never been to the Halloween or Christmas parties and I'm wondering what we'll mostly do at the Pirate and Princess party? I know that many of the popular rides will be open, but we'll have plenty of other time at MK for rides. Are these parties mostly about the characters, special parade, etc.? Will we need the entire party time to meet the characters and participate in the special events? Are the lines to pick up the "treasures" prohibitively long? Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated. Oh, my kids are 6 and 4.

No one really knows what this party is going to be like since this is the first year. I've been down to MNSSHP twice and we usually focus on the party and not the rides, since we spend a lot of other time at MK. During MNSSHP there are plenty of characters and places set up to get candy all over the park (the lines can sometimes get a little long depending on how crowded the park is, but they move very fast) There are also 2 or 3 places to get your family pictures taken (free) along with stories told. They also have a special parade on those nights as well as fireworks.

I'm going this year to Pirate and Princess and hope that it is as much fun as the other parties.
