Pirate & Pixie's Traveling Circus Part 7

Talk about a JOLTING alarm and how in heavens name did I get from on top of the sheets to between the mattress pad and the mattress!! Only my second morning here and I am already tired of fighting the sheets on this bed! Not to mention, the head board bangs on the wall when either Pirate or I shift!!!!!

I realize that I didn’t pack any coffee for my coffee machine and trudge around listening to Pirate sing happily in the shower! Have you ever noticed that people who are MORNING PEOPLE (Pirate) wake up so cheerful and find delight in torturing those us who are NOT MORNING PEOPLE (me)? Cell Phone Charlie and I relate well! Give us a few minutes to get our eyes open before singing; It’s a Small World!! Charlie and I just look at the whirlwind of activity around us, hoping the spinning will stop soon.

After finding all our lime green shirts and shorts (NOT lime green), we head off in search of the perfect day at Animal Kingdom! Yes, all 11 of us are going to be obnoxious and have matching clothing.

Let me mention here that AK is our least favorite of the parks. It always seems that we pick the hottest days, the walkways that are the most crowded, the eateries that have the most bees, or the rides with the longest lines. Don’t get me wrong, we HAVE had great moments here and a few of my favorite things are here, but we truly have NEVER had a magical day at AK. Today is going to be different! Or is it?

Once again we play the “who is going to ride in which car” game! OK people this has GOT to stop! Commander Brad and I start delegating, you ride here, you ride there, we will switch later! We drive to AK, grab a parking spot and proceed to wait for a tram!

While I am waiting for the tram let me tell you a few of my pet peeves, since I have encountered a few of them in last 5 minutes. When 2 lanes of cars merge, the concept is simple! One goes, the other goes, etc. Kindergarteners understand the concept of taking turns, why can’t adult drivers???? The other is people who get out of their cars and stand in the parking spots next to their cars to carry on conversations while you are holding up traffic to park! I smile, nod, and silently say “MOVE IT PEOPLE”. When they do move they walk across the open spaces, rather than going over one lane, clearing the way for oncoming traffic! (Disney spirit..Disney spirit…don’t be in a hurry to enjoy the little things..,SMILES EVERYONE!!!) Ok, enough venting.

We hop the tram and arrive at the AK, grab a few autographs for the t-shirts and send Cell Phone Charlie and Peyton get Fast Passes for Primeval Whirl. It is great having kids old enough to get them while we line up for something else! By this time Cell Phone Charlie has been on the phone 3 times and Parker and Princess Erin is bouncing off the wall because we saw Timon!

We went to Tarzan, got some good seats and Charlie & Peyton met us there! This show is great and we had a blast! Couple of notes here. Tarzan has been using steroids oh my!! Wait, did I say that?? Pirate is much better looking that Tarzan is. The other note is, never eat gassy food when you plan on doing these shows. I am not sure who around me was, but OH MY GOODNESS, Pirate and I just about died at the nauseous fumes! Oh yes, Always tell your children NOT to Pin Trade when you are TRYING to exit the theatre. It makes the people behind you trying to get out mad!

After the show was over we moved in a large group over to let the kids play in the Boneyard to wait for our time on the Fast Passes. Pirate took a wrong turn and ended up in the CCT (cheesy carnival thingy). OK this is Pirate’s term, NOT mine! He is less than fond of carnival type games at WDW. He says it kills the magical Disney stuff!

We quickly got out of the CCT and got to the Boneyard where EVERYONE was there! I have NEVER seen AK this packed before! The more we visit parks the more I realize that perhaps Thanksgiving Week is NOT the best time to visit. Why did I tell so many people my secret time of the year to visit??? What was I thinking?

The kids loved it as they usually do! Val spied an open bench in the shade and ran to lay claim on it like a duck on a junebug! Go Val Go!! The kids ran off to Pin Trade with some more unsuspecting CM. Pirate, Val, Commander Brad and I let the kids play while we sat and people watched!

It is so funny to just smile and wave to people! One couple and their friends stopped in front of us and turned our direction and started planning their day. Our heads went from left to right from one person to the other (like we were watching a tennis match), as we listened to their ideas, biting our tongues as not to interject our thoughts!

Then a lady walked by in a very very loud voice saying, “It’s as if the entire United States took Thanksgiving Week Off and came to Animal Kingdom”. We laughed and said to each other, hey wait lady, “ the entire WORLD took it off, there are a lot more people in MK”..J The four of us had a great laugh out of the comment and any time we encounters more people, we chanted to ourselves “The entire United States took Thanksgiving Week off and came to Animal Kingdom”.


I will still trying very hard to find the Disney Magic at AK, and I was not being very successful. The kids were hot, we were hot, lots of crying babies and I begin to….chant.. Disney spirit..Disney spirit…don’t be in a hurry to enjoy the little things..,SMILES EVERYONE!!! Where is that Disney Music when you need it???

Marla... you HAVE to see it! You will LOVE it!! The music, the entertainment is fantastic!!!


Oh yeah..and Corky...the MAGIC is ALWAYS there..its just sometimes hiding and ya have to hunt for it! I always did like scavenger hunts..
