Pirate night, can my kids bring a bubble maker toy?

DCL recently (like yesterday) changed their policy about weapons (real or toy). No toy weapons, or realistic models, or real weapons are allowed onboard now.

Disney is also stopping the sales of all toy weapons (including bubble guns) in their parks and onboard.

Pirate night gets pretty jammed, while a bubble toy might be fun for your kids I would imagine there being a hard time for the bubbles to actually have any where to go and would pop on the deck causing slipping hazards.

Did DCL even sell bubbles before the ban?

I feel like I read or heard somewhere that bubbles aren't allowed out on the decks because they cause the floor to become soapy and (even more) slippery.

Is this swords on DCL too? My son has an old sword from Pirates he was going to pack for pirate night. If not, at least he has his cool pirate hat with dreadlocks attached...

Both my kids had (and flew with) swords/daggers (and got an adorable pic in front of the ship backdrop), but that was way before this new issue.

The original wording on the DCL website said "no Realistic replicas of firearms and weapons". Now it says:
  • Toy guns or other replicas of firearms and weapons
Also, Disney has announced that it will stop selling any weapon type toys in their parks and onboard. I would say that, even though it's been allowed in the past, it won't be allowed now.

Beyond the decks getting slippery in a confined area it's never a good idea to blow bubbles because there are people who have allergies to them. In open spaces like the parks people can get away from bubble blowers, but getting away would be difficult (at least based on the images I've seen) there.

DCL blow their own bubbles on pirate night (did in Sept), plus they sell bubble guns (although this may now stop as previously said). The bubbles tend to go upwards with the breeze and look really good against the night sky.
Our littlies stood on top deck and blew them.

DCL gave out bubbles to kids on the inagural Norway cruise last June. So bubbles are not (or were not as of then) actually banned. The issue is the form the bubble "dispenser" takes (i.e. the guns are not allowed now). But actual bubbles, as in wand and bottle of soap, are not banned as far as I know. I don't think they are necessarily a great idea, however, for the reasons PP mentioned.
