I currently have DS who is 5 signed up for the pirate league. We are staying at CBR and I just read up on the pirate cruise there ad it sounds cute. We have some free mornings and could do this instead. What are thoughts between the two?

While I haven't experienced the Pirates League, I can comment on the Pirate Cruise! My two sons have done this and loved it! No parents allowed! They dress in pirate life jackets and a pirate bandana that they get to keep, they cruise around and find a treasure, have lunch, etc. they sing pirate songs. My boys loved it! And it was a nice time for DH and I to have a meal on our own!! Highly recommend!

My son did the pirates league at that age and absolutely loved it! It was cute, after getting made into a pirate Captain Jack Sparrow sends him on a treasure hunt through secret rooms. He got so much extra attention from the cast members through out the park for the rest of the day. I have not sent the kids on the cruise but we loved the pirates league.

Wow, that's a tough one as they are both so much fun for kiddos and so enjoyable to watch as parents. I'd say, if your son is adventurous, then the pirate excursion would be perfect for him. My twins did both last year (they had just turned 6), and loved both. The Pirate League is adorable and as others have said, he'll get comments the rest of the day. You'll be able to watch him throughout, and the "real" pirates were great with my constant picture taking. However with that said, I'm tempted to vote for the Pirate Adventure because my two just had sooo much fun. They loved going to the different locations to search for treasure, and the fact that they were going without us, made them feel so independent. We didn't tell them what they were doing until we got to the marina (POR), and when we told them, they were happy. But when they learned it was for kiddos only, they were thrilled. Don't know if I should've found it cute or insulting?! You could always do your own pirate make-over on him for the adventure? If you do that remember anything he wears will be covered with a safety vest. Also, if you do opt for the adventure, make sure you are there to watch when the boat returns. If the excursions are mostly the same at each location, you'll be able to follow him and watch his last search for treasure....super cute! You can't go wrong...he's gonna love whichever you choose! Have a great trip!

My boys have done both as well. They both had a blast at both events. As PPs have said they get a little bit of independence on the cruise and mom and dad get either a little time alone or some alone time with the other kids in the family.

However the cruise is only a few hours long. With the Pirates League your kids will be 'transformed' into their pirate of choice and 'be' that pirate all day long and will get special attention from CMs as well. Not to mention you will take home some of the most amazing pictures of your little pirate having magical moments through out the parks.

Another perk is that the costume is for keeps and they can wear it over and over at the parks. I obviously had 2 ecstatic Cap'n Jacks at halloween that couldn't stop talking about the last time they had worn their costumes at Disney.pirate:

How much was the CBR pirate cruise? I saw the Wishes pirate cruise, but the one that's just for kids, I can't find the cost for that ... we're at CBR and I thought it would be something fun for our daughter to do while we grab a drink at the pool bar or something.

We have done both and our kids LOVED them both. But I would say they enjoyed the cruise a bit more. They were 5 and 7 when we put them on the cruise. They LOVED the idea that there were no moms and dads, just kids and the CMs. They talked about it non-stop the rest of the trip and loved when they saw the CM near the pool area or dining area at CBR. I think it was probably the best money we ever spent at Disney, and that is saying a lot. It was a very good experience.
