We'll be going down in September and we want to go to the Halloween party. Has anyone every gone to the Pirate League as a family before the party? I thought it might be fun to all get pirate makeovers and go to the party as a pirate family. Maybe bring some piratey outfits from home to go with the make up. Our son will be 3 months shy of 4 years old and really likes Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Can you share your Pirate League family experiences? Any adults do this? Was it fun? Worth the money? Do you think it sounds like a good idea to do before the party? Thanks in advance for sharing any experiences you may have had.

[One concern I have is that Pirate League ends at 4pm and the party starts at 7pm. Is that too long to be walking around like a Pirate? Is the makeup itchy or uncomfortable?]

I think it sounds like a lot of fun!!

My boys did pirates league a 9am (first appointment) and were in it all day - was not a problem - not itchy or anything for them- though, the jake option = sort of a wig type of bandana and that might be itchy- might not... I personally wasn't impressed with the jake option at all - they don't really do much- which I guess is the point for young kids who don't want makeup really - but my boys LOVE getting face paint, etc (my twins were a few months shy of 4yo and my older son was 6yo).

FYI - the one design with the eyeballs going down both sides of the face requires to sit for 20 minutes with your eyes closed the WHOLE time --- I wish they had that info on the website b/c all 3 of my boys really wanted that design - and when they told us they had to sit for 20 minutes - and if they opened their eyes and it smudged they had to wipe it all off and start over- b/c it's a Disney trademark design and has to be done exactly THAT way (it has painted eyeballs on top of eyelids).

My older son did it - and had no problem sitting that still but they said some adults even have a hard time with it, lol. Just FYI :)

Okay I will steer clear of this design! My son can't even keep his eyes shut long enough for us to wash his hair, nevermind 20 minutes!

Sent from my phone using DISBoards Ap, please excuse any typos and autocorrect mistakes.

I say go for it!pirate:

Steer clear of the face with the black eye makeup all around the eyes though. My nephew got that and unless a kid can completely resist touching it, it's very easy to rub into the eyes. Once that happens, it's downhill fast. Red eyes that burn. We ended up in first aid and the nurse said that she saw "little guys like this all day" with facepaint in their eyes.

Have fun!

We did it! Two families- 4 adults and 2 kids-and it was a blast! Some tips:
When you check in, tell them you want an adult next to your children. The room is large and you may not be seated near your child. It may also help if you have an adult go first so they can see what happens. There are some theatrics that go along with it :rotfl:
My son wanted his whole face covered with the white makeup like he saw on the website. He sat patiently and had it all done- very happy and scary. Then they told him not to get it wet! His favorite ride is Splash Mountain and he had looked forward to the short lines during the party so he could ride it often. When we finished and walked outside it was HOT. And sunny, and nothing felt like a Halloween party at 3 in the afternoon. He got many comments from strangers ( COOL makeup! Nice costume! etc) and about 20 minutes later wanted it off! We went back inside and explained and they were kind enough to give him some wipes and a quick "scary guy" look. All was good until....
Bedtime! Almost eleven-very late for my boy. We were back at the AK Lodge and the eye liner would not come off. Seriously. Misery. We didn't have makeup remover ( they told us, when I asked beforehand, that it would just wash off. So not true.) but tried the organic, gentle baby wipes that we had- no good. Called the front desk, and they said baby oil. The store was closed, but some kind CM ran in for me and got some. It helped a lot, but, bottom-line, he had eye liner for 2 more days. It was unbelievable. I've never had eyeliner do that. We lied and said it wasn't at all noticeable and have some precious pictures- but beware! Go easy on the makeup. The experience is so fun, though!
