Here's some info. and pics. The article mentions Jack Sparrow and his pirates being there, but Jack isn't there any longer (No more Jack in the park at all any more), and I'm not sure if any other pirates are still there on the island. Someone else should know the details on this. The island is a great place to get away from the busy park for a while. It has some shaded areas, bridges, and places for the kids to explore.

aww that's too bad. My DD (5) still remembers Jack from our trip 2 years ago. He told her she was beautiful and I Quote "wait till he see's me now" meaning she's a little older. LOL

Wow.....what a good memory she has! That is just too cute! I hope she's not too disappointed that he's not there any longer.

I know, I was wondering how she remembers these things from when she was 3 1/2 on our last trip. She also remembers the Dumbo ride and splash mountain.

wonder why they dont have them any more glad I got my pic last year with jack then but it wasnt on the island. We went there to see him an he wasnt there i was bummed then we went towards bb an there he was walking away I ran up like little kid an got my pic an his auto but my DS didnt want it so it was like fine just for me.

Rumors were budget cuts are the reason no Capt. Jack or the Pirate show on the island. Hopefully it all will be brought back for the summer months at least.

I grew up with the old TS island (Which was one of my favorite parts of the park as a kid) and have to say that I love the Pirate's Lair changes. Really brings out the spirit of the island. My DS loved running through the caves and discovering differnt passages. It's a lot of fun.

Haven't posted pics yet - won't be back over anytime soon. There wasn't that much pirate theming and the island was really a downtime stop - if you have a little one that needs to run some energy off it might be good. I missed the porch from Aunt Polly's at WDW - they at least have rocking chairs for the adults. I'd put this low on your priority list

Just a side note - the island was annexed into Missouri so if you do go over you'll be changing states

When did Jack leave the park? He was in several places in POTC last month.

Did you not go in the caves? There's tons of pirate theming in them. Or see bone cage from the 2nd movie? And the pirate treasure you can uncover by working the pumps by the bridge?

He's still in the ride, but the character is no longer in the parks signing autographs and taking pictures. They took him out last fall, Oct or Nov I think.

We were just there last week. DS found the pirates lair cave to be quite creepy. Since we went into that one first, he was then afraid to explore the other caves. Oddly enough, he found the other pirate themeing on the island, even the skeletons, quite intriguing and not scary. Overall, he enjoyed exploring the island. I think we only spent about 30mins there. If I had to do it over, we would have done the pirates lair cave last though.

It was November 15 if I recall correctly.

Our last day in the park was November 7, and shortly after we came home the news surfaced.

We were there last week with 2 boys - 3.5 and 7 years old. They loved it! They got to explore caves, go on bridges, touch stuff, and run around. The old fort is still closed, and I do miss that part. Bring water. It can get hot and dusty on that island.

Ah yes.....but was he breathing?!!!.....LOL
