Last year, we remember seeing billboards and ads for the Pirate dinner show off-campus.

Has anyone been? What can you tell us about it? Cost?

We have a 7 1/2 yo DS who is into pirates and we're wondering if this would be appropriate for him?!

We'd appreciate any/all information you might have!

Many thanks!

Sorry I don't know about the Show, but funnily enough did a search on google yesterday using the word pirate and found a few cute sites your son might enjoy. One is a quiz on finding your "true" pirate name and the other about "official talk like a pirate day" on Sept. 19th.

I can't remember what the cost was. You can get a buy one get one free ticket. The free ticket is an adult but a child can use it. We did this last year. There are some websites that offer a coupon to get these if you go to that office when you get there. I was going to do this with knowbeforeyougo.com, but when I asked the guy in the lobby of the hotel we were staying at, he said they had the same deal. Most lobbies that have a booth that sell tickets should have these. Do a search for orlando sites and see what you can find.

This would be very good for your 7 year old. The audiance gets to participate and they choose 1 person out of each section to do some fun things. I was chosen last year. I took my son and his friend who were 9 at the time and they loved it. There is a gift shop in the pre-show area and they sell the pirate accessories. Those are a must if your son is into pirates. If you want to save money, buy him the patch and sword at a dollar store or walmart before you go. Wish I had done that. We did buy the t-shirts.

Have funpirate:

Thanks for the input! We appreciate the info.!

Oddly enough, I went there last night with some co-workers.

The first thing that hits you as you enter the building is the unpleasant smell of fetid, stagnant water. After a while, you stop noticing it but at first it is very unpleasant. Once you've entered the building you can partake of pasta salads, chips/dips and a served appetizers such as ham and bruschetta, meatballs or pasta dishes. There is also a bar serving beer and various mixed drinks. The mixed drinks come served in souvenir glasses.

During this time there is some entertainment and they set the stage for their show.

When it is time to enter the theatre/dining room, they load by color and your pirate will bring you inside. A few of them are very nice eye candy. ;) Once seated, your server will offer you beverages - soda, beer or really cheap wine. The wine is pretty bad but it is better to drink the cheap wine than to watch the show sober. Didn't try the beer so can't tell you if it was good or not. There was also a green (mostly iceberg lettuce) salad at each place with a small container of lite ranch dressing. The salad was fresh but uninspiring.

Dinner consists of potato wedges, (soggy) corn on the cob, rice, a chicken leg/thigh and a choice of shrimp or roast beef. I had the shrimp and it was in an orange sauce. I think I got 3 very small shrimp in total. The shrimp was not as fresh as it could have been - it had too much of a fishy taste. The chicken was not too bad - decent flavor (better than the chicken at Medieval, IMO) but was a fairly small piece.

Dessert was an apple cobbler or something with a scoop of ice cream and chocolate sauce drizzled on it. This was actually pretty tasty.

As far as the show goes - honestly, I found it hard to follow. The accoustics in the theatre were pretty terrible and it was difficult to understand what the actors were saying. The show's plot was pretty predictable. They did have quite a lot of audience participation which I guess people enjoy. As far as the acting itself, I felt the stage fighting was poorly done - the punches were not in sync with the sound effects. The performers were very wooden with their delivery with a few rare exceptions. There was a bit of trampoline stuff that was a bit interesting, but I really felt underwhelmed by the show. The set is interesting but it was so busy that it made you miss a lot of what what happening, especially if the cast was facing the other direction.

Now granted, I am pretty picky, having grown up in NJ and being fortunate enough to visit Broadway on a regular basis before I moved down here. And people around us seemed to be enjoying themselves - especially those with kids. Maybe my expectations were just too high.
