I have 3 kiddies (9,6,& 4). We never used a sitter or any child care for that matter with them & are a little nervous about doing the pirate cruise since we cannot go with them. I know my 9 & 6 year old would do fine but is the 4 year old too young to go alone on the Pirate Cruise? My DH & I could have a lunch alone..hmmmmm.
Thanks!

I take my nieces and nephews to Disney when I go. Usually my parents go to help out too. We have been taking my niece since she was 18 months and she will be 9 this trip. This is the first trip her parents and my parents have agreed to let her do an activity that we can't attend. She will have her cousin who is 5 and her brother who is 4 with her.

I can tell you from talking to her parents and the parents of my other niece who is 5 that they would not be going if it wasn't the 3 of them going together. The parents would not agree to the 4 and 5 year old going without the 9 year old. The main reason....the 9 year old will watch out for the other 2. The 4 and 5 year old would not have watched out for each other.

Yes this is a supervised activity and I'm sure the CMs are great with the kids but both sets of parents felt better with the 9 year old attending too. They didn't like the idea of someone else being responsible for their kids. They feel better knowing the 9 year old will make sure the other 2 are with her.

In the past when it was just my oldest niece on an activity where we couldn't see her then her parents said absolutely not. While I felt she would have been fine (its Disney after all) they said no and I respected their wishes.

So basically I'm thinking if the 9 and 6 year old are the type to watch out for the 4 year old think I'd say go for it (based on my experience with the parents of my nieces and nephews).

You might try the one from the Beach and Yacht club. I've heard that they take out a smaller number of kids (like 10). My sister liked that idea too (better child to CM ratio).

Hope that helps. Not having kids of my own I can just share the boundaries of the parents of my nieces and nephews.

I agree, if the older kids are the type to keep an eye out I don't see why the younger child wouldn't be just fine. My DS went on this when he was 7, he has a form of austism and we were concerned about him doing this alone. He was fine, and the CMs working the cruise, all female, treated him terrifically. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again, as a matter of fact, I plan on booking the new kids cruise from the Yacht club for our next trip!
