Has anyone sent their kids on the cruise? pirate: How was it? I'm thinking of signing up my DS - 8, but I'm a little concern he won't go on his own.

Thanks

My son went last October (at the Beach Club) he was 7 and it was fine. He had so much fun and wants to do it again, he was shy at first. I think your son is big/old enough to do this, i'll see if i can post some pics later....

I am thinking of doing the one at the BC. Has anyone done both GF and BC? Is one better than the other? I would love to see some pics!

What is the Pirate Cruise? We have 6 year old twin boys- would they enjoy it?
THANKS!

My DS did the Pirate Cruise at the GF when he was 6 alone, then the Albatross Cruise at the BC/YC when he was 8, alone.

He liked the one at the BC/YC better. (Though mom likes the Pirate Mickey ears they give at the GF one better) During the Albatross cruise, they take them into the World Showcase to look for treasure and DS thought that was cool to be in the park, when it was closed.

I'll be sending DS again at 9 yo (he wants to go) on the Albatross Cruise but this time his 4 yo sister will be tagging along.

They do pair the kids up, so your son will have a buddy.

Our DS did the GF Pirate Cruise in Nov 06. Because of the weather, the couldn't do a "cruise" so they did a Pirate "Adventure" around the GF resort. He had lots of fun and wanted to do it again.

Last summer, he did the Albatross Cruise at the BC (same thing - different name) and again had lots of fun. The really cool part about the BC cruise is that part of the cruise included going into the lake that is surrounded by WS in Epcot. The stopped at 2 different countries looking for clues to their "treasure" and then came back out into Crescent Lake. Just before they returned to the dock, a CM dressed as a pirate put a skull and cross bones flag on the back of a water mouse and chased after their boat. The kids and the "pirate" were shouting "ARRRGH" at each other as they approached the dock. It was really funny to watch.

Sorry about the low picture quality, these are stills taken with a video camera. I didn't have my good camera with me at the time.

We loved the GF Pirate Cruise-- my kids were 4 and 6 at the time. Is the Albatross cruise more expensive?

Thanks so much for all the info. I really think he'll love it...and the photos will hopefully help convince him to go.

I've been trying to find some 'guy' thing for him to do while I take his sister to BBB and CRT.

DH will be heartbroken to have the morning to himself :woohoo:

We were there last December and had booked the cruise from CBR for my 7 year old son. The day before he said he didn't want to go. I too was a little nervous like most mums would be with a child out on the water without them. Anyway, we went along and I can honestly say as soon as my son saw the other kids he didn't look back. I even had to run after him to give him a kiss goodbye! He absolutely loved it. I stayed the whole time outside the food court so I could see the boat (paranoid mum!). He had lunch and came back with lots of little things which he still plays with now. We were there for 3 weeks and I wished I had booked another one from one of the other resorts but they were fully booked. Back again this December so I will book atleast 2 of the cruises.

That is too cute. I have my DS8 scheduled for the GF Pirate Cruise on 06/07/08, but this one looks incredible, also and we are staying at BWV. Decisions, decisions . . . :confused3

In our opinion, the Albatross Cruise at BC/YC is better. I guess the big reason is that it goes into WS at Epcot for part of the cruise.
