Pirate Cruise report with photos

My kids did the Grand Floridian Pirate Cruise on October 23, 2006. Not only did I take a ton of pictures, but I sent disposable cameras with the kids, as well. They documented much of what they did.

In short, we arrived at the Grand Floridian, parked in self-parking and walked to the Marina. We got there at about 9:05am. Soon, the CM's opened the boxes that held all of the life jackets and helped us get the kids fitted correctly. They also got red and white striped bandana Mickey Ears to keep. The CM's wrote the kids' names on a sticker and stuck it to the ear, so they could use the kids' names. We were issued a pager and a receipt, and were told we needed to return with both when we came back for the kids. Before boarding, the kids learned some "pirate talk" from the CM's. They got settled onto their boat and sailed away. I've heard stories now about Captain Jack, and leaving him stranded on the island, a parrot that held the key, and treasure that they found. Sounds like they had a great time! Lunch was provided...a peanut butter and jelly Uncrustable, rice krispy treats, juice. They returned to the marina 2 hours later with a bag of loot...candy, trinkets, jewelry, plastic insects, etc. My kids LOVED it. Yours will, too!

what a great idea....sending a camera with the kids! DD#1 did this two or three years ago (DD#2 was too young). DH and I are thinking of signing up both of them for this and we'll go have fun in MK by OURSELVES!!! for the two hours. (I'll probably spend the whole time looking at other people's kids, asking my husband, "what do you think the girls are doing? I miss the girls. Do you think the girls are having fun? I wish the kids were here. Do you think they're getting lots of treasure?")
I think I'll send a camera with the kids and see what they do.

How sweet was that, did you notice all the kids holding hands. I love to see siblings taking care of one another because we all know that home they dont hold hands

My DS did this last winter. The kids are assigned buddies and they have to stay together and hold hands.

Thanks for the report and the great pics! My 5 year old son will be getting this for a Christmas gift while we are there this Christmas. I think he's going to have a great time!

We have this booked for our boys in November. I think they'll have a blast! Thanks for the update, I've always wondered what goes on during the cruise.
BTW, my kids hold hands all the time totaly unprompted (10 and 5). It's the sweetest thing ever.

YAY!! Glad to hear such a glowing report. My boys are going in January. It sounds like it's lots of fun. Oh, P.S. our boys are handholders too. Everyday on the walk to school...love it!

We're staying at CBR - Nov 19-Dec 2 -and if I had known they do it there, that's where I would have booked - but I thought they only did it at the GF. I love CBR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have this booked as a surprise for DD8 & DS6 in Dec. I think I'll pick up a disposable camera for them to take as well.
