Pirate cruise - 3 or 4 years old?

I'm hoping to book the Pirate Cruise for our next trip. Do the kids have to be 3 or 4 to be able to go? I think I've read confliciting info. Anyone know for sure? My DS will be almost 4 and would be going with my 2 DD's so I am comfortable sending him - IF he is old enough. If it's 4, then we'll have to plan differently. (Last trip the girls went tot he tea party and I took my DS for a monorail ride).

They are supposed to be 4 and potty-trained, but how close are you talking here... within a couple months? Not to strike up yet another debate, but as the parent, I think you have the best intuition about your child.

just fyi, on both cruises the cast members asked my child directly how old she was. good luck in your decision.

The child must be 4 yr old for legal and insurance reasons. I think it's a Fl state law regarding day care ratios for children to caretakers. When DS went on the cruise, the CM's did ask one little girl how old she was.

This might be a good time to have some special time with just DS. Maybe rent one of the water mice, ride the monorail or go to the arcade at the Contemporary? Those are all things DS loved when he was that age (& still does at 5 1/2 )

We just got our confirmation back from AKL CL for Pirate Cruise and they have changed the ages to 3-10 but the child needs to be potty trained.

Great. I thought I had heard it was changed to 3, but wasn't sure. We are honest rule followers - so if it is 4, he doesn't go, but I was hoping it might be 3. (And he's fully potty trained, so no problem there).
